Holley Tune and Fast Idle Cam

If the primary transition slot has been reduced and the secondary screw is being used to set the idle, will there be an interaction/issue with the choke's fast-idle cam?

Re: Holley Tune and Fast Idle Cam

Generally, yes: the fast idle needs to bump the throttles up by some appropriate amount from wherever they are at normal curb idle, therefore if their location at curb idle changes, the fast idle setting will change too.

Best way I've ever found to adjust it is to set the idle speed part of the choke linkage when the car is hot and turned off, start it up without touching the gas, and adjust to about 15 - 1600 RPM to start with; then just dial it in from there on cold mornings. The pulloff setting may need help too; if it seems too rich or lean at cold startup, i.e. if it either runs real rough and sputters and the idle seems to slow down after the first few seconds vs if it seems to run somewhat OK but if you give it a small amount of throttle it wants to die, then increase or decrease the amount of opening respectively.

Re: Holley Tune and Fast Idle Cam

Over several mornings, I verified the fast-idle speed and then adjusted downward until I achieved the 1500/1600 range. The choke setting itself seems perfect. So all's good.
