Depends on what summit carb, they have a few.

My opinion though is most any other carb is better than an edelbrock.

Re: Summit 600cfm carbs vs Edelbrock 600 carb

Firstly, a 600 is usually a bit big for most people's applications, believe it or not. On a MILD 350, you may pick up like 20 (at most) of high end power, but the low end loss is too substantial in my opinion to slap one on. A 600 is just about perfect for a nice, flat power curve on a standard 383 build. Most guys dont even put anything bigger than a 500 on their ford 302's, which displace comparable amounts of air to a 350, due to bore x stroke ratio. Unfortunately a 600 is the most easily obtainable small end carb in the market. Theres a couple in between 500-600 for sale, most are edelbrock I believe. I would look for something right around 550 if you want a very nice middle ground, though it's your choice if you insist on a 600. As for summit brands, like the guy above me said, I would look at its country of origin. Dont bother if its Chinese. As for name brands go, all of them work, and take people's opinion with a grain of salt. Theres a reason these huge companies are successful. Edelbrock is just fine, and people just like to pick sides based on their highly subjective personal experiance, or whatever other people say. Personally I prefer holley, but I'm biased because I've got one and I love my car no matter what, but i dont think they make them under a 600. Best of luck with your build.

I put a new Edelbrock 600 #1406 carb for $330 on my mild 350 daily driver 7 years ago. I set the idle mixture screws and then idle. Haven't touched it since. Works flawlessly.

My uncle bought a Summit Quadrajet copycat and he likes it much better than the Edelbrock he had on the car. He said he will buy them for now on for his mild builds.

Fi-Tech. Wet manifold self-learning EFI with a carb bolt pattern for the win.
