Making my own throttle/trans bracket

I spent several days scouring the internet and this forum for a solution and finally decided it would be faster if I backyard fabbed one myself.
The problem began after I added the TV cable correction kit/bracket from Edelbrock which forced me to run my TV cable to the outside of the linkage which puts it at a very bad angle from the stock bracket housing.
I wanted something that had minimal flex but not too bulky and that I could make adjustable and/or move items around on as needed.

So I rounded up a couple old beat-up radio mounts and cut/welded them into the shape I needed. Doesn't look pretty(yet), but I think it will work!

This is roughly the position it will sit in.

Next step is to drill a hole for the carb mount bolt and a hole for a support pin/dowel that will go in the adjacent hole to prevent rotation, the skirting on the sides will provide additional support.

Thanks. I read that thread earlier but I wanted something that can't rotate either direction and is adjustable. Also, everywhere I looked they wanted around 50 bucks for that little piece that I'd have to modify anyway.

Re: Making my own throttle/trans bracket
Slight change of plans. Gonna run the throttle bracket the opposite direction. And I may cut some of the skirting off so it has a little bit of flex for those times you're mashing the pedal really hard....would rather have the bracket flex a tiny amount than my throttle carburetor linkage bend or break. ;-)

Been too busy to work on this, but I hope to have the day off tomorrow so I can get the holes drilled for mounting it to the carb and the cable brackets fabbed up.

Finally done. Just need to weld a spring perch on to the edelbrock tv corrector adapter on the carb.

Can't wait to see it installed.

Finished welding on the spring perches today. Pretty much all finished with that project. Now back to my wiring project.

Yep, that works. More importantly, the cables are in line.
And you even added a place to hook the return spring.

Re: Making my own throttle/trans bracket
Thanks NoE! Its adjustable too. I started with the 7/8" offset for the TV cable but found it unneccessary and it didn't provide enough tension on the TV cable at WOT(even with the ratchetting mechanism pulled all the way back).

It uses a dowel pin in the secondary hole to prevent rotation in addition to the skirting. Seems to work really well and has just enough flex.
