what air cleaner will fit?

ok, here's what i have
305, Edelbrock performer intake(not performer RPM), and a 750CFM Carter carb. I am curious what is the largest air cleaner i can run since a 14x3 drop base did not seem to want to fit.....since the fuel goes in higher up on the carb than on a holley. Anyone ever gotten anything bigger to fit than the 12x1.5 i have now? Also i have the iroc hood with louvers, not like it should matter though.

thanks
steve

Surprised nobody's responded yet.

I'm a little surprised the 14x3 drop doesn't fit. If the 12" does, perhaps get a taller element (with a longer stud, of course).

I'd be even more surprised if a dual-snorkel doesn't fit.

(Man, I'm just full of surprises tonight...)

A 14x3 fits! It sounds to me like you need a carb to air cleaner spacer probably a 1/2in. They have them in the performance sections of most parts stores, its a little plastic ring. If you wanted something that flows more air, a standard 14x3 non drop fits your combo also and will clear you carter linkage. Ive got a non drop base on the firebird 14x3 and it sticks up about a 1/8 of an inch above the firewall. If you go with a non drop base get a flat lid (top) setup and you will have no problems.
