Will a CC Qjet work on a regular SBC?

More to the point will a regular SBC 350 run with a CC Qjet installed with none of the electrical connectors hooked up (except the choke)

I have a 69 Firebird with a SBC 350 from a 75 something or other with a 4bbl Qjet on it. This carb is toast, but I have a good working CC Qjet I can use. I just need the car to run, it is temporary. Don't care about richness, etc.

Thanks!!

Yeah, it'll run. It might even run good at WOT, but part throttle mixture will be crap.

It will run so bad that you'd rather dump gas into the maniflod from a pitcher. The sensors are important, and if nothing is hooked up, the mixture control solenoid will not be able to set the air/fuel ratio. I would recommend not doing this.

Yeah my mcs sylenoid was bad and it ran rich. It stunk and I had to buy gas every other day. Having no computer hooked up would give the same effect. Find an old carb in the junkyard. You'll be a lot happier.

Maybe he just needs to be able to drive it to a shop or something. He said in his post "only temporary"--the fact remains that the CCC Qjet WILL work w/out the computer well enough to move the car around and even drive it on the road.

Couldn't you unplug the solenoid and manually close it so it runs lean? That way idle and part throttle would be fine, but WOT suck? I would think that would work beter for a temp. fix if it works that way..

You could get some adjustment by setting the rich stop at the minimum, but I don't think that would help too much. You could also put 12V directly across the solenoid which would put it in "full lean" mode, not certain how good of an idea that would be though.

Thanks for all the info guys. I actually tried it on the car, but it wouldn't start. Turns out I didn't have any spark. It was a problem with the contact on the rotor not touching the cap.

Anyway, my old non CC quadrajet was crap, so I went to pep boys and got a Edelbrock 1406. It's on the car now and it works great.

Again, thanks for the help!
