carb vacuum

their is a vacume port i believe on the very top on the back of my stock quadrajet does it hook up to anything what does it do i think i has sumthing to do with my secondarie airflaps opening but really have no idea if this does have to be hooked up what to???? also does anyone by chance have a diagram of all of the correct vacume line hook ups thanks

Not sure the year of QJet you have but in the 70s that port was used extensively on QJets that had a "hot air" style choke. Fresh air was drawn from that port down though a metal tube into the hot exhaust crossover area in the intake manifold on the side of the intake manifold where it ran through a loop of more tubing and was heated by exhaust gasses. It then reemerged and went through another tube over to the round choke element on the side of the carb, where it slowly heated the choke element and allowed the choke to open.

It has nothing to do with your air valves.
