Mechanical or Vacuum secondaries, which one rules the strip, the gas milage?

A VS will usually get better gas mileage.
For the strip, it depends. IF you have a manual, or an auto with 3.73's or better, use a DP. Otherwise use a VS.

hey man just get a non computer controled q-jet rebuild it and tune it and your car will run great and get good gass milage. The holley style carbs make a tad more power but the trade off is reliability and drivability. The q-jet is not going to hinder your combo in the slightest. or you could get a carter AFB it is virtualy the same as the q-jet and the edelbrock carbs. the afb is a great carb and is good on fuel consumption an makes nearly the same power numbers that a holley carb would net.
