M/C Selenoid.. need help..

Ok, my buddy bought an '84 Z28 with a carb'd 305HO. It keeps throwing code 23 and 45. We looked under the hood and found the M/C Selenoid was indeed not plugged in like the computer thought, but when we plug it back in, and the ignition is on it clicks repeatedly. It also won't run with it plugged in, it just seems to flood the engine. Can we replace the M/C Selenoid or adjust or what?

the solenoid could be bad, or the computer could be shot.have you put a dwell meter on there and tried to run it
if it will not run, are the idle jet screws exposed.. if so turn them all the way in, then back them about 3.5 turns out. and see if that helps.
if it at least idles then, try to get the dwell to 30*

is the O2 sensor shot on this?

Ahh, so that is what that clicking noise is when I turned the key all these years. Mine threw a m/c solenoid code a couple years back,it is my understanding you have to tear into the carb to replace it.

Ok, I'm new at this. What's a dwell meter? My friend probably knows but I haven't the foggiest. But I'll try playing with the idle screws.
