2 Barrell Question
2 Barrell Question
This is not an easy one. I just rebuilt a friend's DualJet 210c and now the car won't idle right, it backfires through the carb, and dies if you put it in gear or punch the gas. I've rebuilt MANY Q-Jets and never ran into this problem. Any suggestions? I've though that maybe the float wasn't set right so I pulled the top off and checked, all my adjustments are EXACTLY right. This one has me stumped. Please help, my reputation is one the line. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
Sounds like you got some "stuff" stuck inside the passage(s) inside the carb somewhere. Or used the wrong rebuild kit and blocked some passages with the gaskets? Or got the fuel pump hooked up backwards (inlet/outlet)
OR you did some other work at the same time and the carb is fine.

I soaked the carb over night in a carb vat and I washed it out as good as possiblr the next day. I matched the gaskets with the old ones and I'm pretty sure the fuel pump is hooked up right. I haven't checked the plugs, but I will. If the idle actuator solenoid is messed up, could that possibly cause the problems I'm facing? It's about the only thing left that I haven,t checked or replaced. Anyway, thanks for the help.

You probably rebuilt it right but got the vacuum lines back on wrong. Fer' instance- plug the EGR valve into a full manifold vacuum source and you'll have all KINDS of fun trying to get it to idle right!
No, man, I'm pretty sure I got the vacuum lines on right. There are only three, the PCV line(a big one), a small one at the front, and a small one on the back. He didn't even have the EGR functional, but it wasn't causing a problem. Tha EGR is not necesary if you plug everything off. I don't have one on my Z28. The rest have all been plugged off for a couple months and weren't causing a problem. I told you "It's a tough one". Thanks anyway, though.

What was it doing before the rebuild?
Maybe it's not the carb at all...
