Running very rich??!

My TA is non computer 1984 with new rebuilt carb. Exhuast is Black when reved and smells very rich. Seems to be burning a little oil (hope its fuel wash) The plugs are black but not oil burning black just soot.
Engine rebuilt last summer. Vacume is good.

One other thing. When cold I have pump the gas about 8 times times to start !

Take the carb back and get another one. Just because it's rebuilt doesn't mean it's any good.

Yea i agree just cause its rebuilt dosent mean its good to go.
most carbs sold by parts stores are junk and cost almost as much as a new holley or edelcrap.
"my opinion on the edelbrock is low "
see if you can get a refund and then get a holley or edelbrock it will cost you about 50
bucks more for the carb and adapter plate. well worth it. I highly recomend a "510-0-804575" its new and well worth the money
