The only thing I can think of is it is referring to the t.v. cable being misadjusted but there is a bracket that takes care of that problem. Ofcoarse a t.v. cable that is misadjusted and causes to much slippage in your tranny is bad for your tranny.

AND the radius for the TV cable nipple is incorrect. You must make the radius to the shaft pivot 1.125", I believe, not the 1.25"+ that it is for the TH350 kickdown. Trust me, .125" is a big percentage change in throw on a 1.125" raduis... Changes the tranny band pressure(s) for correct operation. If you use the longer throw, the pressures will be too low at lower throttle/daily driving speeds and cause slow/premature wear.

I am almost positive that they mean that you need a TC lockup to use the Holley and 4speed together. I was asking about this before and I saw a few kits in summit that deal with 700r4s check summit pn prf-60109 to see what I am talking about. I know it can be done (Holley and OD) but it does take a little work. Otherwise you will fry your tranny.

They are talking about the location of your TV cable... get the throttle bracket in Jegs 510-20-95 for the 700r4 and you'll be fine.

I also have a vacuum switch that is supposed to lock up the converter in 4th, but I haven't installed it yet. I have the feeling you bought the same carb that I did (Shinny chrome, dual bowls, 750vac). Don't plan on using that chrome fuel line that came with it... it won't clear your EGR valve and the inlet is right next to your heater hoses on your manifold... I used a Moroso Y-pipe and it works fine.

1984 z28 w/ a 357 cu in. monster engine which is looking like the posterchild for Edelbrock with the exception of the Holley 750vac... all the suspension stuff... 9-bolt posi disk is in...

Duffster and Jayman are BOTH correct in my opinion. THe TV cable and it's adjustment and linkage layout are a LOT more critical than an old TH350 "kickdown cable". However, running around in Overdrive with the torque converted unlocked will ALSO cause premature tranny death. It runs the RPMs down below the tranny's stall speed and causes a LOT of heat buildup in the tranny fluid.

Use of a good aftermarket tranny cooler will help your tranny live a long happy life as will using some sort of aftermarket switch like Jester has to find an alternate way of locking the tranny up without the ECM's help.

DUFFSTER- you're not running only a SINGLE throttle return spring are you?? You're in for a wild ride one of these days!

right now, the carb has a single spring...but it's on a Edelbrock carb now, not the HOlley pictured...
the dual springs will bind with eachother and thats even worse...
the single spring is a BIG STRONG one, so i'm good for now...

Dual springs don't bind. A smaller one is inside a bigger one, just in case one happens to break!!! Doesn't matter how big/strong your single spring is, if it breaks, you could be in for a hurtin'!!!

with the angle I have available for mounting the springs (dual) from the carb to the bracket, the larger one expands slower than the smaller one and the coils between the 2 of them bind...this is what I meant. anywhere past 1/2 throttle they become intwined and that is a worse option than 1 spring I believe...
