internet fraud
i was reading some of the threads on the classifieds feedback and read something fimiliar. right after i put my car online i got an e-mail from Babara Rusells (Babararusells@yahoo.com) telling me that she was intrested in the bird and wanted to send me a cashiers check for 5,700 and i wire the rest to a shipping agent. she told me what she had planned for my car and i told her she can just give me the money and arrage shipping hetself. she repied with that she would send me the money and she would send the excess funds to a shipping agent in london. that was tuesday dec 16 and i haven't heard from her since. should i report this?

Call your local Sherifs office or state police, I called the Sherif and they had been trying to catch this guy for a while, they already knew who they were dealing with when they saw the fraud check.
What happens is. When you cash the check and send your car or whatever away. you get stuck paying for the whole check becasue it is a fraud and you lost your car or whatever you are selling.

I've seen this quite a few times myself ...all from London. Maybe you should agree to it and send your car. Hide in the backseat armed with an assault rifle and take car of these bastards once and for all

Yeah, when the sherif cam over he said to keep playing along and make up a story why I couldn't cash the check right away becasue the sherif was trying to trace the e-mails.
I got the same type of email for parts
I put an ad up for some parts left over from my IROC and got this email. I had heard of it on another website, here's a copy of what they sent.

Last I checked the non A/C parts were harder to come by than the A/C parts. Hope this helps someone recognize a scam. Another post says they got a similar email from another sify.com adress.

you have to watch your back these days!
I turned down sales from buyers who wanted me to send stuff to thier home and then pay me when they get it. While other sellers will, I won't do it, here's why:
I already have good feedback, an exellent track record.
I offer the use of pay-pal, which fully protects them. If I get shammed out of money....or it's "oh something came up, my dog got sick....." I'm out a part and the shipping expense. No money, no part.....simple as that. No disrespect to anyone I've turned down sales too, but I usually sell stuff because I need money, so I'd like to ensure I get the money.
Definitly don't ship anything if you still have the car.
I've shipped to France and Netherlands, the same way, money first via pay-pal, then I ship within 48 hours, usually 24 hours.
no need for this "shipping broker" that a bunch of crap. If someone ever did that to me, thier best option would be legal penalties form the authorities. I would send her the car with the inside soaked with fish water:
take a fish, drop it in a bucket of water, let stagnate for as long as possible, soak entire inside of car with it, the smell will never come out, even with all of the uposltry replaced.
I'd pay her a personal vistit and set her on fire, then my story would be told on one of those forensic shows.
