Well I really didn't want it to come down to this. I have given him plenty of oppertunity to make this situation right. But he claims he did nothing wrong.
I bought a Spohn X-Member from him 5 months ago. I just got ready to put it on. Found out it's not an authentic TH-350 X-member as he clearly stated in his ad.
Over a course of Pm's he states he had to get a conversion kit and even gives me a part number to a conversion kit to make this Th-350 member work on his car. 7Q-35B (google it)
Then he connects me with the person he bought it from who also states that he had to convert his 350 trans into a third gen tailshaft(700-r4) in order to make this fit.
I then show him every picture he could need to see that this is not a Th-350 X-member but rather a 700-r4 X-Member. I even contaced Steve Spohn himself and he told me that it is not what the buyer stated. He states that any of his TH-350 X-members would never need trans mods to make them work.
I am fed up with this situation and if 1FASTZ would just admit that he sold me a 700-r4 X-member than i will feel better. I have provided him with days of proof that is is not a turbo 350 X-member.
People. Check your items real good when you get them to you. Try to avoid situations like this. I am stuck with this part I have no use for and a seller who does not wish to make it right.

Re: Study your part good upon arival. 1FASTZ took me.
I have sold several parts on this website with no complaints. Like he said its been over 5 months since I sold the torque arm, cross member and driveshaft loop. Like I told him when he bought it, it was in good condition and IT came OFF of my car which has a 350 turbo in it. I originally purchased it from a local guy here in my hometown. He was also running a 350 turbo in his, I even helped him take it off. When Justin asked me if it was for a 350 turbo, I said yes it is, because thats what I have in mine. I did make a suggestion for him to use a kit for his trans to fix the problem. I never said anything about me using a kit on mine. If it worked on 2 different 350 turbo's then it should work on his. I even went as far as to make another post on another discussion board to ask the original owner of the spohn components and he also said that it should work on Justins car. I told him that Justin said it wouldn't work and his exact words were " then this guy doesn't know what he's talking about" I then made a call to the guy who built my tranny to see if he had any suggestions, he also suggested the kit. Justin has been nothing but rude and slam me in PM's and in another post.

There are 2 people here who don't know what there talking about. You and the guy you bought this part from.
I am clear and 100% certain that everything i have stated is correct. After stating my case to you over ten times yes I cant help
but come rude out of pure fustration.
Once again, You do not have a stock Turbo 350. You have altered it to fit this Crossmember. Your friend has done the same.
Why should I have to alter my Turbo 350 when the part you sold me was suppose to fit a Turbo 350. BECAUSE ITS THE WRONG PART!!!!
I admit, I slammed you. You stuck me with a part that will require modification to my brand new expensive trans in order to work.
Thats NOT WHAT I PAYED FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have news for you, there are 3 different lengths of TH350 transmissions. I know for a fact that the longtail TH350 fits the same transmission mount location as a 700r4. I put a 700r4 into a fullsize truck that had a TH350 with NO crossmember or driveshaft modifications. So it is definately quite possible that A STOCK TH350 WILL bolt to the cross-member in question perfectly, with no modification.

Re: Study your part good upon arival. 1FASTZ took me.
Th-350 trans come in three tailshaft lengths, 6 inch, 9 inch, and 12 inch. 9 inch is almost identical length to a 700R4 so it is very possible they did install Th-350's with no modifications on a 700R4 crossmember. You both need to look at your Th-350 tailshafts and determine what length tailshaft you have.
Tailshafts can be changed on Th350's. I do my own, but it requires pulling the guts of the trnny completely out, everything has to come out. I would recommend a trans shop do it for you if you have never gone inside an automatic trans before.
Good luck, hopefully you guys can work this out.

Re: Study your part good upon arival. 1FASTZ took me.
If there are different size Th-350's that can use 700-r4 crossmembers than why on the Spohn website does it not tell you that some Th-350's can use the 700-r4 X-member.
Why are there two completely different crossmembers with no mention of a universal fit for either one.
Why did Steve Spohn tell me on the phone that no matter what size Th-350 I have his Th-350 crossmember requires NO MODIFICATION!
The answer is because There is only one Th-350 case and transmission mount location. If 1FastZ sold me a Th-350 X-Member none of this would be taken place right now. My Th-350 would have bolted right up.
But it doesn't.
In fact since 1FastZ sold me the wrong part, I would either have to change the tailshaft not from a short tail to a long tail....but to a 7004r tail. Just like 1FastZ recomended in a PM. And just like the origanal owner stated he did when he sent his trans out and had it Qoute " set up for a third gen"
This is it........The X-member that was sold to me has been proven a 700-r4 X-member. Steve Spohn told me so. It's the same damn mount location as the factory 700r-4 X-member.
I was lead to believe it was a Th-350 X-member and it does not fit a Th-350.
If you guys think that there are different mount locations on the Th-350's than I hate to see what advise your giving other people here on this board.
Fast355, The reason your swap went well is because the fulsize trucks had a universal X-member because they used both transmissions. The reason the driveshaft fit was because the long tail 350 trans is the same overall total length as a 700-r4. But the mount on the Th-350 is still about 3 inches shy of the 700's
Now look real good. Study the mount of the Spohn TH-350 X-member. This is from the Spohn website. This is what 1FastZ claimed to be selling.

Now study the mount on what 1FastZ actually sold me. I'm sure that the difference is obvious.

Just to clarify.... all TH350's have the same cross member mounting point on them regardless of tailshaft length... I may be backwards here (havent looked under my car in about a year...) but I believe the TH350's mount is about 3-4" shorter than where a 700R4's would be so if you bolt that crossmember up and it's about even with the back of your TH350's mount, it's a 700R4 crossmember.

1FastZ, I'm curious as to how you got that to bolt up to a TH350. You had to of been using a bracket similar to B&M's changeover kit? Was your trans mount bolted directly to the transmission?

Re: Study your part good upon arival. 1FASTZ took me.
I have been going through this for a while now. He believes that he has a Th-350 with a stock mount that fits this crossmember.
Over a series of PM's he talked about having his trans built by a guy. He then told me the way to make it fit was to buy a kit that converts your trans.
He gave me this part number which you can google.
The guy that HE bought the crossmember from said that he Quote " had his trans set up for a thirdgen car." Guess he used the same p/n ?
I'm sure you can see why I am fusterated. He refuses to admit that this is a 700-r4 X-member. I have offered every type of proof possible!

I have posted proof of everything i stated. Where is your proof. I think, and i actually know your wrong.
explain why Steve Spohn doesnt know anything about this and doesnt state any of this when buying his X-members?
Is he wrong in telling me that a his Th-350 X-member will fit ANY th-350 trans?

Re: Study your part good upon arival. 1FASTZ took me.
Some of the TH350s have the mount on the tailshaft, like some 700r4 do. Go grab a long tail TH 350 from a Van and a tape measure and compare it to a short tail shaft unit. They mounts are in a different location. The long tail TH350 was used in alot of fullsize vans that also used the 700r4 at the same time. The crossmember in a van bolts in one place only and has one hole drilled in it for the transmission mount. Therefore your mystery 3" can not be provided in that application. The long tail TH350 and 700r4 are interchangeable in this application.

Re: Study your part good upon arival. 1FASTZ took me.
You are a thief 1FASTZ. You sold me a 700-r4 X-MEMBER! It doesn't matter what trans is what. The X-member that you charged me $250+shipping for is not what you advertised it as. What don't you understand about that????
If this was a Th-350 X-member we would not be going through this!
Do you understand that it doesn't matter what trans is what? If you had sold me a Th-350 x-Member AS ADVERTISED it would be in my car RIGHT NOW holding my STANDARD TH-350 trans up.

If you would have said you had the short shaft instead of the long one we wouldn't be having any discussions. I am Done with you.

1FastZ. You bought this part and didn't know you were converting your Th-350? Don't you think you should have mentioned this part # when listing your item as a TH-350 X-member? Think I would have bought it?
Fast Ls1, I don't want you to think you are being picked on, but I can testify to the swap of a TH-350 into a 3rd gen. I ordered the #310 Adjustable torque arm from Spohn. After receiving the torque arm and taking some measurements I found out that at the current configuration my TH-350 wouldn't work. At that time I also found out that there are two different TH-350 transmissions. There is a short output shaft and a long output shaft. I unfortunately had purchased and had rebuilt one of the short output shaft transmissions. So in the end I had to purchase the same conversion kit that you are complaining about needing also. I am not saying that there is not a way to install the TH-350 without the change over kit, but you will no longer be able to use a stock length drive shaft if you go that route. And after looking at the pictures you have posted, the mount that you have is the same exact one that was sent to me when I ordered mine brand new from Spohn
That is word for word from a post in the kyfbodies link I have provided ealier in this post.

You advertised a Th-350 X-member.
Steve Spohn, the creater of what you shipped me, said that what you shipped me is a 700r-4 crossmember.
So which is it? Who is the liar?
you or Steve Spohn?

I'm not as quick to call someone a lier as you are, but considering someone else just ordered a torque arm and cross member from him and they did state that it did look Exactly the same as the one I sent you seems to point out that you Sir don't know what your talking about. Now I'm sure you will post another comment but this is going to be my last.

It's entirely possible you had some odd-ball, possibly custom modified, TH350 transmission that worked with that crossmember without using a changeover kit but the fact is, that isn't a TH350 crossmember.

You are 100% wrong. Like I have said... the tailshaft length has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the transmission. The entire transmission with the exception of the tailshaft and output shaft is identical on TH350's. It's pretty clear you unintentionally sold this guy a 700R4 crossmember. You can tell without a doubt he is using a TH350 in that photo and you can also tell without a doubt that is a 700R4 crossmember due to it's location in relation to the TH350's mount.

Does not change the fact that he sold me a 700-r4 X-member.
1FastZ, I will never be done with this. I'm still here stuck with a bogus part. I'll be done when you admit you sold me the wrong part and start talking about my REFUND!!!!!

How did you pay? paypal? do a chargeback and send the crossmember back.
.If not, sell what you have, get some money back, and quit arguing. Its obvious you're both right lol

Re: Study your part good upon arival. 1FASTZ took me.
I have good news for anyone that thinks there are different types of Turbo 350 with different mount locations! I now have MORE proof that your completely wrong!
Doing some research I came across this write-up from Hemmings Muscle Machines.
http://www.hemmings.com/mus/stories/...feature15.html
So after reading this I felt like the author, Jim O'Clair would be qualified to help in this matter.
Here is the Email I wrote to Hemmings and they fowarded to him.
His reply Email was
I can foward the Email and the link that he gave me which states that ALL th-350 trans share the same exact mount location.
Now, I have shown pictures, got confirmation from Steve Spohn and also a qualified Th-350 Expert that the X-member you sold me is a 700-4r unit.
WHERE IS MY REFUND THEIF????????????????????????????????!!!!!
I hope everyone that does buisness with you reads this until the final day of thirdgen.org!

You did a write up a little while ago on the Th-350 trans and swap.
http://www.hemmings.com/mus/stories/...ml?t=printable
In the article you stated that there are several different 350 transmissions. A 6, 9, and 12 inch tailhousing.
My question is, does the actual trans mount location change from the 6inch tail to the others?
Thank you

the positioning of the mount does not change. On all three lengths, the mount location is 20-3/8" from the front face of the bellhousing. attached dimension chart.

Re: Study your part good upon arival. 1FASTZ took me.
So lets say that Steve Spohn, a guy who fabricates transmission Xmembers, and a long time automotive journalist with a team of fact finding editors is wrong and you're right......
What your saying is basicly that the long Th-350 has a 700r4 mount location and thats why this X-member worked for 1FASTZ and the prior owner.
Doesn't that FURTHER prove that what he sold me is a 700-r4 X-member???

not sure why you guys are fighting over it... Sure it's possible GM made some oddball goofy TH350 to fit a specific vehicle, that doesn't mean when you buy a TH350 crossmember you should be happy that it technically fits "a" TH350, but not the STANDARD TH350.
The end of the story is that this guy was sold a 700R4 crossmember, it's clear as day.

Re: Study your part good upon arival. 1FASTZ took me.
So this crossmember fits 700r4's and only th350c's? not "normal" th350's?
I think Fast LS1 is due back a refund, sure, 1FastZ has a th350c that fit his 700r4 crossmember, but when it came to sell, he assumed all th350's were the same, and not that he has a th350c with the same mounting point as 700r4's..

In all respects Fast LS1 WAS sold a 700r4 crossmember, but I do not believe that 1FastZ sold him the wrong crossmember purposely. Here is how I see the situation. A seller has say a 350 TPI engine. The engine was rebuilt unknown to the seller by a previous owner. Lets say the 083 TPI heads were cracked. The machine shop used 193 TBI heads instead. The engine goes into the car and the car back on the street. Two owners later the car is wrecked. The car is parted out. A guy buys the running TPI 350 and plans to rebuild it and beef it up. Neither one checked into any of the casting numbers because the engine ran well, the car was a factory TPI, and neither one thought to. Now FIVE MONTHS later the buyer finally tears down the engine. Much to his dismay he finds that it has TBI heads on it. Now they are to the same point we are here. Bickering over something that NEITHER bothered to look into FIVE MONTHS PRIOR!!!!!

Re: Study your part good upon arival. 1FASTZ took me.
Well that story is all well and good but it's really between myself and the guy I bought the part from. Not who bought it new.
Now, I also believe that the seller didn't realize that he sold me a 700-4r X-member. Thats clear!
But the fact is, he is hard headed, and playing ignorant to the 1000000 facts I have provided to him to prove it's not what he stated.
He is completely unwilling to hear what I have to say and wants no part of making the situation right. That is a bad seller in my book!
His attitude is....." Well it fit in my car?"
Well, thats not good enough for me! Because it needs to fit in my car, Just like advertised, otherwise I would NOT have bought it from him.
Fast355, If you were buying a set of TPI L98 heads and you got them in and realized that they were in fact 193 tbi heads you would be doing the same thing as I am right now. And if you proved to the seller till you were blue in the face with cold hard facts that they were not what he advertised, Would you accept the answer, "well they worked on the TPI engine, so they must be TPI heads?"
If you were the one who sold the heads, and found out they were wrong, would you do something to make it right. I hope so. This guy isn't!
Fact of the matter is, The wrong heads on an engine could still work. This part I have is useless to me.
I sold the part on Ebay. I lost $120 and my time to ship it. The seller refuses any more PM's. Doesn't think he did anything wrong. Has moved on with his life and MY money.
If anyone does buisness with him, BEWARE!.

Re: Study your part good upon arival. 1FASTZ took me.
Thats what I was saying though. My th350 has a switch kit installed. Its a spacer and longer bolts so that I can bolt a 700r4 tailshaft to it. With a 700r4 output shaft installed too, this is the exact same length as the 700r4. The thing is, the case is where the mount is, that location did not change at all. I am using my stock 700r4 crossmember.

I am also using my stock 700 R4 Crossmember on my TH-350. With the B&M conversion bracket. What I want to know is do any of you guys have another set of Mounting holes on your frame for your crossmember bracket??
I do and didnt know if they were suppose to be.

Re: Study your part good upon arival. 1FASTZ took me.
I could honestly care less who disclaims the existance of more than one length TH350. Have they gone out and measured EVERY one. Kinda like the 4 bolt main 305 block, they do exist. Like I said, I have a TH350C in my hands, right now, that disproves that. Its a stock one from a 1982 G-Van. Its 22.5" from the face of the bellhousing to the front edge of the mount (how they are measured), which is EXACTLY what the 4L60E (electronic shift 700r4) that is in my 1983 G-Van now is.
