I need some help with the Tonuea Cover on my 88 and 89 Convertible's
At about 80mph the tops blow up in the back and looking at them I see it may have some type of lock too hold down the top ( not mine ) think i need one can anyone post a pic of the underside of the Convertible Tonuea Cover so i can see what I am looking for
Thanks RicMon

theres a fat pin with a point on the end and a groove in it on the actual top
theres a hole in the tonnu cover that this pin goes into.
the tip of that pin goes into the hole and pushes a clip out of the way... the clip snaps into the grove.
that holds the top down.
otherwise, it lifts up at speed.
pop open your tonnu cover and have a look at the underside of it... you should see what i mean..

hmmm.
man i wish i could take some pics....
ok, i'll try to draw you what it looks like...
ok, it works like this:
shutting it.
the tops pin gets pushed into the hole, the pointed nose hits the clip and pushes it out of the way.
the clip catches the notch in the tops pin and holds it down.
opening it.
you pull the cable. that pulls the arm toward the cable..
there is a little nub on that circle that is connected to the arm. it pushes the clip outward and lets the top come up.
if you dont have all the pieces, dont worry, just get a big cotter pin that fits on the lock for now, and you just have to reach back there and pull the pin before the top releases...... that will hold it down until you can buy the release arm.
i hope this helps.

oh, when installing the pin, i kinda drew that wrong.
the flat side of the pin goes INTO the hole/tube the round side goes AROUND it
in the pic i have the flat going around it and the curve going into.

if you already have the arm, greas the tube/rod, slide it all together, pop a clip on and you can just turn the arm like its a handle under there to release it until you get the cable and handle
if you already have the handle, you could just use regular bicycle cable to release it though...
its a pretty simple system, but after reading how it worked a million times, i literally had to see it myself before i went "oh yea... duuuh thats how it works"
