Convertible ground effect VS. Hard top GFX??
Convertible ground effect VS. Hard top GFX??
I have a Convertible Camaro and the passenger side ground effect is cracked. My questions is this: will a ground effect from a regular hardtop/T-top camaro fit my convertilbe camaro? Are there any differences in these gfx peices? If so what are they? Any pics/diagrams would be helpfull guys. I am getting the feeling that any part for our cars are gunna be hard to find. I cant find a convertible gfx peice so now I am hoping I can just use a regual one and just get it painted.
Unless any one sees this has a convertible gfx peice to sell I would be happy to take it.

they should be the same. Call thirdgenresource (aka f-body motorsports) and they'd be able to tell you absolutely. See the link up top.

You'll have to modify the coupe piece to fit the convertible. One longitudinal cut, removing the back couple of inches should do. Ya see, the convertible frame support runs from the front to the rear wheel and is approximately a 4" x 4" x (length) piece of steel. It gets in the way of the rocker. My dimensions are not precise.
Roy @ thirdgenresource told me they were different. In all honesty, I haven't actually LOOKED at the difference yet. I do however have his stock white rocker GFX from the white LS1 vert sitting in my shed. If I get around to it, I'll check the difference.

Convertible GFX are modified from hardtop pieces.

ASC put a cut in the bottom of them when they put the vert bracing on.
get another GFX from a coupe, and with tin snips/a knife/sissors/cutoff wheel/whatever, just cut as needed.

i replaced the left front fender on my 'vert and i bought a new fender from gm , the body shop dude told me he had to cut the bottom of the fender to accommodate for bracing , so i would speculate the gfx was also modified. these cars all started as coupes so why not just modify a coupe piece. as we all know , finding parts for these cars are a nightmare anyway so i would think that it would be cheaper and more convienient to go the modifying route.
