Water Accumulation In Luggage Well
Does anyone else have the problem with their convertible's luggage well accumulating water when it rains?
I have not been able to determine the origination point for the water entry. The passenger compartment does not ship any water at all.
Usually when it is raining the car is just sitting in the driveway and is not normall driven in that kind of weather.
Thanks for any insights.

I have that same problem, and it makes me so mad!!
I don't get water in the middle part of the trunk, just on the drivers side in the well behind the wheel well. I had my amp sitting in there too, and it shorted it out from sitting in the water. There's probably water in the passengers side too, but I haven't taken out the spare tire to check. I haven't looked to see where the water is coming from, it seems like it would be really hard to figure out where it's coming from with all the tight spaces and everything. If anyone has figured out this problem, please help us out! Thanx,
Corey

Yes!! I have been fighting this leak for almost a year. I have replaced the trunk weather stripping twice. And the tonnaeu weather stripping once. Just last weekend I removed the spoiler and made new seals around the bolt holes. If that doesn't work I don't know where to go next.

I took my spare out one day and noticed that there was a hole in the bottom of the floor, right where the spare tire sat. I found the plug that goes in the hole and havent had any problems. Iam not sure if there is one of these holes on the drivers side, but its worth the check.

update: I think I got it. It rained pretty hard lastnight and no water in luggage well. It appears that the water was getting in though the bolt holes in the lid for the spoiler. To give you the whole story. Someone must have sat on my spoiler and broke the studs off. It was just loose one day. I cut them flush and used J-B weld and new bolts to replace them. these bolts did not have the shoulder like the orginal studs. leaving more room for water to get in. To seal it I used garage door weather stripping. I cut it into 2" strips and drilled a tiny hole in the center. Them pushed over the studs sticky side to the trunk lid . Then put the spoiler back on. It worked.

hey can you get a picture of your solution?? I've had this problem forever also and I know the studs on my spoiler are broken but i never thought that was the reason for it (probably because i didn't look too hard). If i can fix it this summer i'd be so happy. I kind of understand what you're saying but pictures would make it so much clearer

CorVM, I was getting water in the middle, the luggage well.
nikh23, I'm sorry I can't do pictures. I put it together already. One word of warming if you try this repair. Get the bolt angle right, I didn't and it was murder to get the nuts on. I had to take off the trunk lid and turn it upside down. I kept loosing nuts and washers in side the lid.

i guess i'll take off my spoiler and see if i understand it. are you just saying that you cut off the old bolts, and JB welded new bolts in their place? Sounds easy enough and is your spoiler fixed in place now? or does it still move around a little

That is what I did. I cut them off flush with the bottom of the spoiler. Made a puddle of JB weld and stuck the bolt head in it. I also used big washer to give more grip area. Just get JB weld all over the head and washer but not the threads. Dont forget to angle them a little bit away from the back of the spoiler. It will save problems with the install.
