Who knows about a Straman Convertible?

I just bought this car on ebay. Its a 1990 firebird convertible, converted from a t top by R. Staman Company in Costa Mesa California. I saw on the internet where this company converts Ferraris and Porshces and other cars, and there were MOtor Trend articles on Staman Trans Ams. This is a 6 cylinder, but looks pretty cool. Has anyone heard of this guiy?

You might email Lon at TDS. He seems to know more about these cars - than most anybody...

Larry,

I apologize for the ambiguity of my previous post. I assumed that most everyone coming to the Vert page knew about Lon Salgren at Top Down Solutions. Look at the top of this page for the TDS banner ad. Lon knows more about the "other than ASC conversions" than just about anyone.

You know the saying about the word ASSume!

Good luck!

Sorry I can't supply any info on the car other than what you probably already know.

Lon,

You've totally wrecked my confidence! I think I will crawl under my car and hide. I should probably tighten header bolts while I am there LOL!

Well thanks anyway. I was hoping to find out something about his car. I will try and contact this company in California. I know there is another company ACS, I think that did a lot of coversions like this. The car was a ttop car and they modified it to a vert. Im just wondering what kind of parts they use for the mechaniical part of the car. Would it be from another GM car? is it something you can get from them or someone else. I guess you could always have an upholsterer make you a custom top, but if the mechanical parts go, what then?

Hard to say the origin of the mechanicals. Especially since they converted everything from thirdgen F-Bodies to Nissan Z's, Ferrari, Rolls Royce...

My best recommendation is to keep up on the maintenance. Keep everything clean and lubed.
