Trunk Won't Open! HELP!

Hey guys, I just bought my fourth 3rd gen f-body, a 1991 Z28 Convertible (by the way I looked up production numbers and it is one of 3,203 conv. made in 1991, does this make it worth anything more?) Anyways, the battery has been relocated to the trunk, and the trunk won't open, because from the battery to the trunk release button, somethign is disconnected! I can barely squeeze back to grab the battery from the back seat, and managed to charge it..., nothing! I am not so worried about the wiring, since I intend to redo it all anyway, for now I just want that trunk open, and was wondering how to open it manually, since I can't get any power! HELP!!! If you can help please e-mail me at dlhickey86@yahoo.com, as I am very computer illiterate, and will probally never find this message board again lol! THANKS!

run new cables for a battery. one to a ground the other to the starter. once the battery is hooked to the starter it should power up the rest of the car.

Even if the battery is missing, the key should still pop the trunk.

Perhaps he isn't aware that the manual latch release for the trunk is behind the license plate. Just flip it down. If that doesn't work you're pretty much SOL. I can give instructions on how to access it on coupes, but you can't get in there on a 'vert.

Some problems are solved easier than others. Glad I could help.

did some 91 z28 convertibles not come with an electric hatch? i don't think i have a button anywhere, just the button where the hatch button usually is which pops the tonneau cover...any ideas? i'm kinda confused.

Yea, the power latch was an option just like anything else...

ok Z28Camaro91, You have officially made my day!!! that is the funniest thing i've heard in a long time!!

Although, I had a similar problem, when i first baught my vert, i had both keys on 1 wimpy ring, and i put the top down, and suddenly my key to the door/trunk is gone... i searched for 8 hours!!! i think it fell into the frame somplace... never found it... so to get into my trunk i had to take out that little light, reach in and pull the cable that connects to the latch. And instead of re-keying the entire car, i just routed a trunk release cable to just under the tannue.. lol.. the car had a remote start w/electric locks so i was good w/ the rest. Damn red-neck engineering... (or just young w/ no money)
