310 88 Iroc Convertibles?!?!
This can't be right ....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...74826115QQrdZ1
Then again, it is on Ebay......
Seller is pitching that only 310 Iroc Convertibles were made in 88.
Any comments?

Yea, he has some strange numbers in that add. As well you probably know the Z28 designation was dropped in 1988 for IROC-Z. So there wasn't a seperate Z28 convertable model. The number he shows (3761) for convertables is the number I have always seen for total IROC-Z convertables produced in 1988.

Production Figures
Where do these guys get this stuff? It's amazing what people will publicize to make a sale. To place an ad with bogus figures should be a crime! To e-bay: This sort of information should only be allowed with official references. In this case, the Camaro White Book. It's also a disgrace for someone to not check this stuff out before placing a bid, especially to the winner because all he'll do is pass this misinformation along. Here are the OFFICIAL PRODUCTION FIGURES FOR 1988 CAMAROS:
Sport Coupe Hardtops: 66,605
Sport Coupe Convertibles: 1,859
IROC-Z Hardtops: 24,050
IROC-Z Convertibles: 3,761
Total Production: 96,275
Reference: Camaro White Book
And for anyone who doesn't know, there were ZERO Z28's produced in 1988 -- all were IROC-Zs.

yea, i've been searching... but can anyone tell me time frames they made I-ROCZ's, to when they made the Z28's?
Simple:
1982-1987, 1991-1992: Z28
1985-1990: IROC-Z
Note:
1985-1987 IROC-Zs were an option on the Z28.

ITs my car for sale...I actually stole that from someone else's 88 iroc vert for sale, that ended on ebay a couple weeks ago. I didnt look into it untill someone emailed me that there were no z's in 88. So before everyone goes screaming OMG HES TRYING TO SCAM THE WORLD, i had no intention of the such. It will be adjusted accordingly.

According to the charts on this site there were actually more IROC-Z convertibles built in '89 than RS 'verts . It would not make much sense for GM to have such a low production number difference the previous year.
also remember that the convertible was an option, not a seperate model during the early years... if more people ordered IROC/Z28 convertibles than RS/SC convertibles, its completely plausable that more IROC/Z28 convertibles were made...

Does anyone know how many IROC 'verts were made in 1987?
(mine is an LB9 auto, ASC conversion)
Thanks!

I prefer the 88-92 IROC/Z28 cars over the 85-87 IROCs but I figure might as well get one example of one and it might as well be a convertible. I'll call you this weekend.

I have had three third gen's, but never an IROC. I wanted TPI, the 'IROC blue', and t-tops. but when I saw the 'vert, I decided that even if it needs a bunch of work, it's perfect. I already have a daily driver, so the IROC will be for Saturday's and when my Jetta needs service. In the meantime, I can work on it and take time getting it 'correct'.
I think the best third gen's are the ones that are unmolested, at least to beign with. Then you at least know what you're dealing with!

Someone told me today that 744 is the number of factory conversions, but because mine doesn't have a 20th anniversary pouch (well, I don't recall it having one...) it is a aftermarket conversion.
My car has an ASC logo on the right hand side of the instrument cluster, and has some kind of odd/special Z28 Special Edition badge/logo on the dash where the pocket was or is, on the right. It might have a serial number, can't recall. I will have to check tonight.
This person also say that while ASC did the 'factory' conversions, they also did them aftermarket as well.
I'm confused - anyone know the real story here?
It's okay if he's right - I'm just wondering what the deal with my car is so I don't even come across as one of those idiots who makes a fool out of himself claiming he has something he does not. You know what I mean. And I don't know enough about the 'verts to argue the point...
Thanks!

Rob,
It is possible that your car could be either, but so what? It was done by the same company so they did the exact same changes as they would have had the order came from the factory. Every convertible 3rd gen FBody started out as a T-top car. ASC cut the roof off and added strength by welding additional steel to the rockers. Take a look underneath your rockers under your doors and you will notice that the gfx has been poorly trimmed to make room for the additional stuctural strength. Does your car have an RPO sticker in it?
Take a picture of the ASC and the Z28 stickers.

Hmmm. That makes sense. I need to spend some quality time with my car this weekend, and I will get the RPO codes and check that out. I'll get some photos of the stickers and emblems...
Thanks!
