Header trim interchangeable from year to year?

Hopefully someone can answer this for me. I have a 91 RS Vert. The windsheild header trim was cracked.(The one the sun visors mount to) I found a replacement and just paypaled the money. But the piece is from a 89 Camaro. Are they interchangeable, or did i just buy something I cant use?

Thanks in Advance,
Mark B

You should be ok. Only change I am aware of is the 87-88 are different from 89-up.

This is a good topic...
I've seen a RARE few on Ebay.
None of them matched my 91.

Are they different from ASC and the other conversion company? Does anyone one know of specific years?
The rare few I've seen on Ebay.... did not match my 91.
The latch cut outs were different.

I'd love to find a aftermarket.
Anyone do plastic injection molding?
Mine is still in good enough shape to make a copy.

Aftermarket... I wish. I have always been surprised about how little aftermarket there is for these cars. Its a completely untaped market. If someone were to make some of these interior parts that we all need, they would make a killing.

if a company made the piece you are talking about they would probably sell it for around $100 shipped. maybe $75. would you buy at that price?

I'd be surprised to see it that cheap.

Me too. I would think they would charge at least 125-150. But I would be willing to pay it. As long as they made it a little thicker. I dont want to pay that for one that will just break again.

If someone made something like that I'd be all over it. As it is I'm gonna have to take my down and reinforce it from the back with some fiberglass resin or something, because the cracks keep getting worse. I thought about trying to cover it in fabric like the trim pieces on 4th gens are.

I was going to do the same thing with the new one that I am getting. My old one is in two pieces, so I had to get another one. Now if only I could get ahold of the trim piece that attaches near the top latches I would be set.

After market molding

Hello All,

I have a 91 vert Tbi.
The guy who had it before me just put a new top on and had the car repainted...Blk. I have been working on getting the rest of the car up to snuff. I found some stuff on ebay but it adds up quick. I found a place on the web to get this stuff:
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/camaro_parts

That stuff adds up quicker. So I went to the junk yard and found all kinds of good condition stuff. For some reason there were a lot of frond end damaged cars there to strip. (graduation gifts I guess). Hank has the "Convertible Upper Seatbelt Trim Seal" for 75.00. I cut two lower window trim ends off a hard top model (that fit great) for $2 each. All in all I got 2 seats, 2 door window sweeps, air intake hose, spare tire, Radiator cover and some small stuff for 120.00....no shipping. Lots of fun.
