What price should I list it for?
Due to a house that has really caught my eye, I may sell my 91 Firebird to raise some $$$ for the downpayment. Anyone know what a good selling price would be? Here are the specs:
91 Vert with 35K miles, red, completely stock, 305 TBI, AT, Red, garaged all its life. It is pretty much mint except for a few tiny rock chips on the hood. Interior is perfect, under the hood is perfect, and the top is perfect.
I haven't decided yet, just seriously contemplating it...

A guy had a 91 T/A vert with 14K on ebay with a buy it now of around 25k.
It didn't sell.
I'd say probably between 10-15?
Depends on how bad and how soon you want to sell it.

Were there any bids on it at all?

Yeah. $12,000 ... but he may have scared a lot of potential buyers off with his high Buy it now.
Oh, and it was a 16k mile car. Here's the link:
eBay Motors: Pontiac : Trans Am (item 4635584099 end time May-07-06 19:00:00 PDT)

With that kinda mileage, I would expect around 8K as a fair price but you could get lucky based on the description.
Start the bidding there (or higher as you see fit) and see what happens.

well I simply laugh at these types of threads...
Nothing against you but people in general need to learn that blue book and your personal value is worthless.
(This is a generalized ramdomation)
It may be a $15K car but you might be lucky to get $9K for it.
It may be worth alot of money to you, but to someone else... not so much.
I keep saying this but I got my car for 1500. The guy was asking 3500. he was not that happy about it, but I made sure he knew that I was indeed interested, and had the money in pocket. It took 4 days for him to make up his mind.
Auctions are fine.
You start with the minimum price you want for it, and then the BIN at the price you would really like to get. Just don't get crazy. Something that is a double edged sword for yours is it is a 305 TBI all stock. Means you do not have a lot into it performance parts wise, but at the same time cannot ask alot more because it is all stock.

That is kinda why I posted asking what would be a good asking price. The BB value seems to be near what many people are buying high mileage verts so I really don't have a good gauge for a reasonable price. If I listed in the paper for $5K, I think it would be gone in a heartbeat.
If you were in the market for one, what would you *really* pay?

Without seeing the car I do not make questimates.
I never said that the KBB could not be used as a stepping stone to start from, just do not get your hopes up if it says 14K and expect someone to pay that off the bat.
That is unless they REALLY want it.

V6Sucker ... hold your horses. We're not talking about KBB here at all. If you went by blue book, his car would be worth about 4k or so. We're talking about what it would be worth to someone who wanted a clean, low-mile vert and was willing to pay for it. This sounds like a very nice, collectible car. I would pay $8-10k for it if I had the money. 35k on the clock ... are you kidding me!!!??? That is worth some dough if it is in great condition. That's why I asked how quick he wanted to sell it. 'Cause it will bring the money if he's patient. I'd bet that somebody out there REALLY wants this car and will pay close to $12,000 for it.well I simply laugh at these types of threads...Nothing against you but people in general need to learn to read an entire thread before they go and bash people about Blue Book value when KBB was NEVER mentioned in the thread.

It has been in my climate controlled garage for the past few years in Indiana. Recently I sold my house in Indiana, moved out south and it has been sitting in my parents garage (in Indiana) since.
I am kinda stuck in an apt until I buy another house and if I sell it, that sure would expedite my home purchase. They again, the vert would look absolutely gorgeous on my new driveway.
8K seems like a good listing price on ebay... I'd probably regret it though

And like I did say, as a seller you need to throw out whatever KBB and your personal feelings say. They are, in the grand sceme of things, totally worthless in coming to an answer of value for something.
(Warning dramatasation coming)
I.E; you put, lets say three years restoring a car. Over that three years you spents lets say seven grand into the car. Along with countless scrapes cuts and bruises and pride.
Something happens and you need cash quick... so you decide you have to sell the car.
Now for the car spec's lets say a 80 nothing Camaro, mostly stock, a few bolt ons but nothing big or special about the car at all.
Now to you that car is going to be worth over $7K, but when you start with a $200 non running POS that you faithfully restore, sorry to say it will still only be worth $3-$4K to most anyone that looks at it. And that figure may even be high depending on where you live.
Granted you may wait forever and find someone that would buy it for that $7K tag, but it will be a long while.
That is where alot of people get messed up. They spend X dollars doing work to a car that is worth half of X then expect when they sell it that someone will pay X.
From a stern buyers point of view all that money you spent fixing and restoring, that only brought the car up to its maximum KBB value. (again as a stern buyer that is where I start)
I fully understand exceptions, and I am not arguing that a good condition 35K original car is not an exception. I am simply saying that you have to be realistic when asking a price for something.
(End dramatasation)
As a general rule it does not matter what the car is worth to the seller, it is only worth however much the BUYER is willing to give. If the two cannot comprimise, the car sits.
That was the point I was tring to make.
I did read the entire thread, he was asking what the car was worth. I said to throw out whatever KBB and whatever "high personal value" says, because those are worthless. Maybe you should read what is being said before you say something...
I do not think I came off as bashing the guy either. I might have come off a little harsh (and I appologize to the poster if you felt I was).
But like has been said many a time emotion is a little hard to type up. That is why I type as no frills, to the point. You can take it as you want, you ask, you get.
