Awesome ride! My car is original but I'm not the original owner. That's awesome that you are! Welcome aboard!

PS; I'm on my 3rd set of hood struts. I need to replace them every 5 or so years.

Beautiful Car!!!

But the 2x4 holding the hood up was the FIRST thing I noticed in the 2nd pic.

It does kind'a look like somethings missing without them (but to each thier own), and she's still beutiful.
Why are they missing? With the awesome low mileage, was it in need of a paint job (exposed to the elements, etc)?

No it has never been repainted

Exposed to the elements? It only comes out on sunny days..and it gets stored from Nov 1st till May 1st. Last year I put 740 miles on it. This year only 625. There never was any decals on it. The only thing that in not original is the radio /speakers and the alternater and battery. I went to do the brakes this summer and they didn't need it yet. Maybe next year. The paint looks great because I use to use Autofom from Blue Corral for years then when they stopped making it I went to Griots Best of show wax... I now use Zaino and swear buy it.

Ok now that you have seen my car ..here is the story

If you orderd a new Camaro in 91 you will probably remember waiting a very long time. I think the UAW was on stike. Well to make a long story short. This is the second car with these options I ordered that year. The first one came in to the dealer and there was a big dent on the hood. When I say the dent I was pissed. The dealer told me they would replace the hood. They did not . When I went to check it out and pick it up they made the mistake of having it under floursent lights. I could see where they bondoed the hood. I told them to keep the car. I went to another dealer and re-negotiated the deal ..and I actually got it for less than the first one. As I was waiting for this car to be made..the first dealer called me back and wanted to have a talk with me. They offered me everything under the sun to take the car. My response was "The only thing I am going to leave here with is my deposit" and I did. So here I waited. Finally what seemed like 100 years later the second dealer called and said the car was in. Here we go again to pick up our new Z28. We went for a ride ...this time I had a check list
Guess what ? The fog lights wouldn't work. We returned back to the dealer and told the salesman about the problem and he said "Make an appointment with the service dept. and they could probably get to fixing them in about a week" I said "Call me when they are fixed and then we will come back and close the deal. The fog lights were fixed within 15 minutes. About 5 years ago I was going to sell this car. I started cleaning it up before I put an add in the paper. I came back into the house and told my wife. "Dear I know I said I was going to sell the Camaro. but It's not going to happen" SO END OF STORY

the window sticker says you have 235/55/16 tires...is that true? what made you get the auto instead of the 5 speed? did you have a strict budget when you ordered the car? what was it like to see car generations like the mustang and camaro last 10 or more years? did people ever get tired of the body style? Did people really notice the redesigned ground effects and spoiler on the Z28 and RS? just wondering what it was like back in the early 90's...

thanks

So many questions

The reason we got an automatic is cause when you are married it's not your car It's our car. I originally wanted a Z28 hard top bacause of the 350. My wife really pushed me for the convertible. So I gave in. As far as body styles go. I liked the IROC. When they did away with them in 91 I liked the ground affects. I never warmed up to the Gen 4 Camaro. Maybe execpt the SS . The Gen 4 's all looked the same. As far as the Mustang I hate Fords. After seeing and driving the new Mustang GT 500 I don't hate them as much. As far as a tight budget on my convertible (excuse my our convertible). It was a cash deal. There were many times I thought maybe I should dump the 305 and do something special under the hood cause buy todays standards I get 200 horse out of my Stratus RT Coupe with a Mitsubishi V6. I even looked into the whole LS1 swap deal but once again I said "It's not going to happen" As far as the tires I think I could have optioned for the 245's. I think the only thing I would do is maybe new wheels

I had my wife hounding me to sell my 89 Iroc, or the 67 RS/SS in the garage! I told her there was no chance that I was selling either, as they were NOT costing us money for car payments, well except for the insurance, which IS however an ARM and a LEG here in Miami! Anyway, she finally gave up and I have both still!
