So I was driving to work, about a 1/4 mile from work the vert starts stumbling like it outta gas. I looked down, Yup Im empty. So im barely still chuggin along, I figure ill get to work and get a ride at lunch to the gas station. I was slowing down because the engine is stumbling so bad, I turned on my hazard flashers and im going like 15 miles an hour. This road is one lane wide both ways Double Solid Yellow Separating the two. I go to pull in the parking lot for work, Wham, Stupid Chick on her cellphone in a white chevy venture tries to come around my left side. I think the insurance company will give her the fault because she was on the Wrong side of the road. I will Post updates.

Ur lucky though compared to my brother and his RS. It was his last day having it out for the summer. He parked it out on the road, went to eat for an hour with his friend, and came back to have his driver door smashed in. It was a nice hit and run. He just got a 3,000 dollar paint job the previous year. Stupid drivers man, beware of them.

Absolutely incorrect, it is the goddamn cell phone. I take by your comment that you talk on the cell phone while driving. You cannot be 100% focused on the road while talking on the cell phone!!!

My whole family was nearly killed by a guy on his cell phone that went straight through a blatent red light. He t-boned my mom's old Monte Carlo with my brother and sister in the back seat. Had he hit the car 1ft more towards the back of the car, he would have killed everyone in my family. Luckily he hit the very front of the passenger door and the passenger front wheel. I think police should be more strict with cell phone using drivers. People can get tickets for using them while driving around here, but unfortunatly the police don't really enforce this law.

 

If thats at me, I avoid the phone unless I need it, a good part of my family are firefighters, seen and heard about too many cell phone related accidents

 

OUCH! Looks like the rear Quarter panel wasn't even touched, right? If that's the case then a shop should be able to repair the Driver's door and fender. I would try and keep the original door because of the GM stickers, unfortunately they cannot be replaced. As no long as no welding or filler is needed then she should turn out perfect.

The bad part is, the insurance company will look at it, tell you its totaled and give you 800.00. Thats not even enough to repaint the car. Happened to an x19 I had. There was no way I could replace the car with what they gave me. I carry full coverage on my bird now. If someone hits it I will let insurance co fight who is going to pay for it.

 

No the insurance company estimated the damage at $1600 and the body shop / Custom paint place wants $2400 Im waiting for a reply from the insurance company regarding fault and when i will get a check

I learned a while ago that after an accident you:
1) get 3 estimates from good reputable shops
2) take it to one of the shops that you want to have it done,
3) call the insurance company and let them know its there, if their adjuster wants to look at it there will always be someone there to let them in. If they have a problem with the estimate you give them the 2 other estimates and let the bump shop duke it out. I got screwed by letting the adjuster look at it first.

FINALLY!!!!!! Ok my insurance company is sending me a check for 75% of the damages. it was going to be 65% but i had a chat with the vp of claims in utah and he helped me out. ill be getting 1800 bux instead of 2400 bux. oh well. anyone wanna buy my 1997 intrepid to help fund my paint job repair? will post pics of paint after finished

 

Ok my car is in the body shop all week this week i will post pics when its done. Does anyone now where i can get a new or great condition front bumper ground effects piece, mine is torn to shreds from previous owners bad driving skills. man i know what that is like i had a 95 camaro and my dad hit a curb with it. it made the rocker panel look like a can opener had attacked it. it was a about a foot long. they totaled it out. but they gave 3000 and my dad payer them 1500 to get it back and then gave the car to me. lol.

 

well it looks like all that neede to be done was removing the dents. it didnt look like it went through the door anywhere. you came out pretty lucky though. if it was at a different angle it could have been worse. it looks like she kind of skided off of you. you should see my car lol. i have spent 6 hours getting it ready for a car show and had only had the car for 18 hours and a stupid truck pulled outinffont of some cars ahead of my friend. well they were able to stop but me. friend came out with 150 bucks worth of damage me........ it was bad. take a look and see for yourself

First, Sorry to hear about your car, hope you get it back to where you want it.
Second, I don't usually talk on a cel phone when driving (less that 5% of the time) because I know I am a bad driver when on the phone.
Third, (here is where I risk becoming unpopular, but I have to say it) when I come up on a car with the Hazzard lights on, I pass it on the left.
You wrote and I believe the hazzard override the turn signals, so even if you tried to signal a left turn into your work (I am assuming it was a left into work, it did not specifically say) how was the Girl supposed to know?

Again sorry about the accident, but I am not sure that the Girl in situation did anything much different than I would have, except for being on the phone..., I am just happy it was not me behind you that day...

 

if you have the hazard on they will overide the turn signals. i do agree with that.

 

I know the feeling.... i had my car backed into at my school... 3000+ damage to her! I was pissed! first week of the idiot having his lisence too! And on top of that his parents were letting him drive a big A** Ford F-350 with a wing on the tailgate.. why the wing?..... don't ask me lol

Um, What? Oh i get it, Thread hijack talk about a dead thread oh well maybe it is time for an update. When it was in the body shop they couldnt replace the door skin because they could not get a new skin from gm (i forced the insurance company to pay for gm parts) So they replaced the entire door which was a better deal because the old door was rough at best. I got a new mirror and mirror adjuster guts, The old mirror never held its adjustment before but i milked the insurance company for all i could. it took the body man 2 week to match the color, its a little too dark but i am going to get the rear quarter re-done and the doors colors are separated from the fenders colors via the flames so when i get the quarter done it will be much less noticable.

Holy crap that sucks! i hope you can get it back to where it was before.


The three cars directly in front of me turned into the same parking lot. She crossed double yellow lines, she hit a car with a 5000 dollar paint job. In my logic, if you are on the wrong side of the road and hit ANYTHING, its your own fault. whatever you hit shouldnt have to tell you where it is going before it crosses in your path on the WRONG side of the road. It doesnt matter anyways i got a new door and after 50+ emails to the regional vp over claims i got the other 25% back so in the end (10 months later) i got even.


Once again why the complete random posting of nonsense in a year old post?
