oddly, it looks to be a carbed or TBI setup.. i didnt think in 89 you could get TBI IROCs.. is this rare? is it an anomalie, or is it a fake? the window sticker looks real.. but it baffles me.
thoughts?

Re: Found this..
it's real and no more strange than a tbi t-top or coupe. you could order a vert with any v6 or 305 combo just no 350's. definitely nice though.

Re: Found this..
Actually all factory authorized 'verts came with a 305 either TPI or TBI through 90. With model year 91 the V6 was available. The 350 was only available on those few non-factory authorized Firebirds done prior to 91.
Regarding this car, it's equipped with TBI and the rare 15" x 7" IROC rims. I suspect it doesn't even have the Steering Brace (aka wonderbar). Basically it's an IROC in name only, but it is and was an IROC from the factory. Too bad the owner pays extra in insurance for the IROC name, but in reality it's not any better equipped than if it were badged as an RS.

Re: Found this..
Correct.
A V-6 was not available in any 1989 Camaro convertible.
The RS vert came standard only with the LO3 305 TBI.
The IrocZ vert also came standard with the LO3 305 TBI or you could get the optional LB9 305 TPI.

Re: Found this..
you guys got me there. I wish I could find it because I saw a vert for sale that had a v6 it was an 88 and supposedly factory. No idea why you would want a v6 vert anyway though I guess.

Re: Found this..
AFAIK, the only way it could have had a V6 prior to 91 was if the owner took their car to ASC to be converted. The only V6 'vert prior to 1991 I am aware of is a TTA.

Re: Found this..
thanks for the info guys. I guess i need to read up on my iroc lore some more. I had no idea that you could get an IROC in a TBI.
also didnt know about the model year thing for v6 verts either.
thanks again!

Re: Found this..
That might be a case where the least desirable engine might make the more car desirable due to it's rarity.
Aaahhhh, then again, I think I'll stick with my V-8.
