bye bye forever

today i was just cruisin in the vert... took off turning left too fast. started fishtailing and held it for about a block. went completely sideways hopped a curb and bam. right into a ******* telephone pole. directly in the middle of my driver door. i jumped out of my car right after it happened and called my mom. when the police came they couldn't believe i was conscious or even alive. they said they dont know how i didn't smack my head on the pole since i was going like 30. my seat is about half the width it used to be and i dont know how i even got out. it was just a blur the whole thing, it fealt like a dream. had the car towed to my house for 120 dollars and my mom made me go to the hospital. my leg isn't broken but its really really beat up. i cant walk on it. ill get pics when i have the energy to walk outside and take some

if anybody wants anything at all off the car, everything is for sale. im trying to save up to buy a 4th ten t/a now. the trim piece along the top of the windshield i believe is still good but ill have to check. also edelbrock headers and y pipe are for sale along with the 3" magnaflow cat. only has about 200 miles on it

did you want the whole rear end assembly? or just the gears? it is a 10 bolt open differential. NOT POSI. if it was posi i most likely wouldn't have crashed... if u want the whole rear u will have to pick it up or i am willing to pull the guts out and sell those. make me an offer.

Oh man. That really sucks. I feel sorry for you. The pictures just make me sad.

The good news is, you're not dead. Or in a coma, or something tragic like that. I know what you mean with the dream-like thing, same feeling happened to me when I smashed the front end of my 88 SC.

Re: bye bye forever

How much for the headers shipped to 72120.

Could also use the drivers side window switch if its the same for a 91.

Another trim piece I see, but is different then mine and dont think I can afford is the windshield top piece shown in your last picture.

Main thing is your not overly hurt.

I hate to be a vulture, but do you still have the plastic trim that goes up behind the windshield where the visors are mounted? How much for that?

Spinning the tires that fast out of control with a posi would have only made you lose it faster. Now you want a 4th gen T/A ? Hopefully if you get one it is a 6 cylinder and maybe that will even be too much for you. You definately don't need a LT1 or LS1 car or else next time you may be dead.

Re: bye bye forever

Im sure he learned his lesson, and he seems pretty humble about it.

And I'd have to respectfully disagree about the posi thing... I feel like it probably would have made it a little easier to control, at least in theory.

But either way, just be glad you didnt hit another car or god forbid a pedestrian. Did the police give you a ticket? I wonder if the police didnt give you a ticket, then maybe the accident wont even go on your record. But either way, it's good you're okay and hopefully you learned a little bit from it. Good luck.

what do you mean next time? if u really knew me u wouldn't even be saying that. i know how to handle a car. i know how to drive. really the reason i crashed was because i tried hitting the brakes and thats why my car slid off the road really stupid on my part but w/e. if i didn't do that i probly could have regained control. if u knew even half of the stuff i have pulled off while driving cars u wouldn't be saying that. just because im a kid doesn't mean i dont know how to drive. i have driven cars that are way faster than mine before and i know what real power is. just because a car has more power doesn't mean that an accident would be worse than this. i should have died in this accident according to just about everyone who saw my car and saw the scene of the accident. and aren't newer cars safer? meaning airbags and such. my car was like the weakest car strength wise. if i hit that pole in any other car the same way i bet it wouldn't be half as bad. my car is a third gen for one and a convertible which have like no bracing at all. think about what you just said to me. even the pros crash sometimes.
i didn't get a ticket or anything since the road was wet and it wasn't totally my fault since i wasn't speeding or anything.

i did learn a lot from this car. if i end up getting another f body like the formula i am looking at i would baby it so much. i would never do burnouts or anything harmful to the car b/c now i know what can happen.

on another note. i found out today my pelvis is broken in two places and i have to go back monday to check my spine.

pm's sent about everything.

Hmm in that one pic with the cop the road seems pretty dry to me and you say you wern't speeding but you counter steered 5 times and held it for about a block Sounds like you were joy riding it to me and ****ed up lol. "i know how to handle a car"

Well unlike you I think 3rd gen cars are like tanks compared to most and that big fat door might have saved you in reallity, remember 4th gen doors are made of fiberglass

the cops told me that if the road wasn't wet i would be in a lot of trouble and probly get a fine for wreckless driving. your judging your assumption on a camera phone picture....

personally i think he has learned his lesson as everyone usually does after crashing that bad... dont see why people have to fight the fact that he had control or not... glad to hear your okay sorry about the car, hope all works out well for you and good luck in the future, also glad to hear that you will respect the next car a lot more( and you will end up doing some burnouts here and there... just nothing crazy ) =D

Re: bye bye forever

Everyone here has wrecked a car in their times growing up. Lets just be thankful he is still here to talk and has learned from his ordeal. Yes he will drive crazy again and yes he might wreck again but he now knows stuff happens fast.

I myself have been in 13 car wrecks. Only 2 were my fault all the other ones were poor judgement for rideing with the wrong people. Of course I am OLD if the numbers look BIG!

Re: bye bye forever

What the hell kind of tires do you have on the dead (RIP) car? Couldn't you just let off the gas?

Did you accidently keep the gas to the floor due to panic?

This is an LO3 we are talking about here.

I am glad you are OK...and sorry that a nice Vert is dead. But at least it can keep others on the road.

OK wow, that really sucks, another vert gone. Anyways I'm looking for the trim that cover the spare tire area.

Re: bye bye forever

Most likely just kept it floored out of panic, and yes it does feel like a dream when you lose control like that for the first time not expecting it to happen either .not sure if you have never performed a manuever like that before or knew what it feels like, but I imagine if you had done that before you'd know to just immediately let off the gas and you'd be fine. even though you hit the brakes and you claim that is your error, your real error is letting yourself begin to fishtail in the first place. breaking loose was not your fault entirely, but continue to lose traction was. I only fishtailed once on accident and from now on I know to just remove the foot from the gas pedal and the car is heavy enough to settle down. luckily i only hit a curb lightly and cracked a shitty rim.

anyways, also, with a posi it is harder to initially lose control but after you lose control it is harder to regain control.

Re: bye bye forever

Agree with Synful.

A good rule to remember is:

-When driving a FWD car, step on the gas for more traction and to get the car to correct itself

-When driving a RWD car, let off the gas and steer as straight as possible to regain control.

Of course...the MN winters helped me learn that a LONG time ago

if anybody wants anything at all off the car, everything is for sale. im trying to save up to buy a 4th ten t/a now. the trim piece along the top of the windshield i believe is still good but ill have to check. also edelbrock headers and y pipe are for sale along with the 3" magnaflow cat. only has about 200 miles on it
Damn bro that's ugly, you are very lucky you are walkin without much bodily harm. I did the same powerslide deal in my car only my progression was slide, catch grip, car flips the other direction and careens semi straight over a curb, thru a little metal sign, and over... read over a fire hydrant. After the fact i realized i never let off the gas.

I'm still drivin the car around temp. untill my white thirdgen is fully rebuilt but the carnage was extensive. Bent up the front subframe, bent tie rod, dented floor pan to the point that the seat and center console are cocked off and the ebrake is engaged permantly. Theres a hole ripped in the floor, exhaust ripped off, radiator and condensor pushed almost to the engine, two blown tires. um i think i forgot some stuff but thats the gist. Basically a Total but it runs. I zip tied the radiator away from the pulleys and removed the pass seat.

I was lucky that my opponent kindly moved out of the way lol.

Everyone will prolly crash once or more, it happens
