SELL OR NOT

I HAVE A 1989 IROC CONVERTIBLE WITH LOW MILES.I REALLY LIKE THE CAR BUT I FEEL THAT DRIVING IT WILL DECREASE THE VALUE.IT PROBABLY IS WORTH MORE NOW THAN LATER. I DON'T WANT TO OWN A "TRAILER" CAR AS
I LIKE DRIVERS.IT WOULD BE BETTER TO OWN ONE WITH A LOT OF MILES.I DON'T HAVE ROOM TO GARAGE IT AND A CAR TO DRIVE. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Re: SELL OR NOT

I know what you should do,trade me for my 91 v-6 firebird hardtop. Its got lots of miles, crappy paint dings and dents everywhere, but runs real good.Just joking,I guess you should sell it and get what its worth if you really don't want to use it as a d/d and buy something that you don't mind putting miles on and occasional parking lot bumps&scrapes. If that car is that nice, you should have a bit of cash left over for whatever else.

Re: SELL OR NOT

keep her unless your going to let me have her for 50.00. lol.

no, really, no one can tell you whats right for you. If you feel its time to part ways with her, then thats what you must do.. but be careful, and dont make a hasty decision.... one that you may regret in the future you know what i mean? good luck in your decision.

Re: SELL OR NOT

Just go get a $1000 piece of crap-mobile and drive it every day. YOu don't have to have a garage to keep your 3rd gen clean. Just get a cover and let it sit there for a while.

Re: SELL OR NOT

Thats always a tough one. I say if youre the original owner, please keep it.

Otherwise trade it. But make sure it goes to a good owner. Maybe 5% of these cars are kept original? It will definately get more valuable, these cars are reducing in numbers quick!.

If you just want to drive it, drive it seldom, but if u want to go fast, sell it. A car has to be driven once in a while, i put maybe 400-600 miles on my car a year, its 114 000 kms, so fairly low, and i still enjoy it.

Re: SELL OR NOT

YOU IT'S REALLY TO FIND OTHER PEOPLE THAT LIKE THESE CARS.WHEN I BOUGHT IT,IT WAS BECAUSE I ALWAYS LIKED THE LOOKS OF THEM. MOST OF THESE CARS WERE TRASHED OVER THE YEARS AND THAT IS A REAL SHAME.I PROBABLY WILL KEEP THE CAR BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING MADE NOW THAT IS EVEN CLOSE TO THE Way IT LOOKS AND SOUNDS.I FIGURE IF I DRIVE A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES YEAR IT WILL STIILL BE WORTH MORE EVERY YEAR.THANKS

Re: SELL OR NOT

I bet I get beat up on this one. You are thinking of keeping it for an investment? Sell now for what you can get out of it. Then put the money in real estate while the market sucks. Even if is just a down payment. Sit back for about 6 month, since they are dropping interest rate, and smile when you sell it. Or put it in the stocck market, a third is not a good "investment" there to have fun in and make memories.

Re: SELL OR NOT

I THINK YOU SHOULD SELL IT AND GET A KEYBOARD THAT HAS LOWER CASE LETTERS.

Sorry - I'm feeling sassy. I expect more from NC folks.

If you want my opinion (and you may not after my opener) I would tell you this car is potentially on the brink of cost appreciation. The car can be driven daily if taken care of and it can be modified for show or drag. Both of these features may be desirable by someone and both are means by which you can advertise the car.

The ultimate decision is related to how you feel about the car as your personal treasure. If it's not viewed as a treasure by you I recommend you sell it.

Go App State!

Re: SELL OR NOT

WHAT'S A LOWER CASE? DOESN'T THAT REQUIRE PUSHING SOMETHING N THE KEYBOARD? I WAS LOOKING ON EBAY MOTORS LAST NIGHT AND SAW TWO CARS COMPARABLE TO MINE FOR LESS THAN 10,000 BUCKS.I DON'T BELIEVE THAT THERE WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATION UNTIL WE CLEAR OUT AL THE INVENTORY OF CARS THAT ARE BEING SOLD AS JUST COOL USED CARS.THERE SEEMS TO BE GROWING DEMAND BUT THER ARE TOO MANY 3RD GEN CARS THAT PEOPLE ARE GIVING AWAY. MAYBE A COUPLE MORE YEARS WILL CREATE MORE COLLECTORS AND LESS CARS AVAILABLE.A MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE OF THE SAME VINTAGE IS NOT WORTH ANYTHING SO IT'S A GOOD THING THAT THE CAMAROS ARE INCREASING IN VALUE.
