New to Forum
Hi everyone! I just jpined this forum because I just become the proud owner of a 91 RS Convertible. i am going to be restoring this beauty and was looking for some help. I found it in a garage under a cover. it was parked there 13 years ago. I was able to get it to run with just a new battery put in it. It only has 50k on it and it is clean as far as damage goes. The only real issue I have it back window. I have poked around the internet and I see that I can buy a replacement top even with a glass window. Thw top is in excellent condition other than the back window. Is there anyone out there that will replace only the back window or I am stuck getting a whole new top?
Also how the hell does it come down? I know it is an idiotic question but I do not have an owners manual and I know that there are two clips up fronat, but how does the trunk open for the top to go in? I haven't even tried to put the top down because I do not want to damage it. If any one could help or send pics it would be great. Thanks.
Tim

Yeah, the top is pretty easy as coolz said.
When the top is tucked away, before you close the tonneau cover, be sure to fold the front window latches down (so the handles don't stick up). If they are left sticking up, they may come in contact with the closed tonneau cover.
When the tonnaue cover is closed, be sure it "clicks" shut on both sides.
Here's a few pics of mine to help you know what to expect . . .
Top up . . .

Rear top raised . . .

Tonneau raised . . .

Roof going down . . .

Roof down and folded on rear shelf . . .

Roof down. Tonneau down . . .

To raise, simply do the reverse.
Once the roof is up, secure the front two top latches first and then the rear single pin under the rear windshield into the tonneau cover.
It's easier to do the top's front two latches when the rear of the roof is loose.
The rear single pin I like the lock down by resting one open-hand on top on the pin at the base of the roof, and then shoving down with my other hand on top of my first hand. This way I'm not actually pushing down on the roof, but on my hand that's on the roof. I find this to be a little gentler on the roof by letting my hand take the "abuse".
Enjoy your new toy.

Hey that was pretty nice of you to take the pics for him
As far as what is more cost efficient, replacing the window or getting a new top...getting a new top installed is much more efficient. Most people won't even touch it if you just want the window replaced because it's kind of a tough job compared to simply taking the top off the frame and putting a new one on.

Thanks for all feedback from everyone. I am attempting to attach pictures of how i found it. it still doesn't run. I think it is a fuel injector problem. mybe it will be fixed this weekend.

Re: New to Forum
Welcome aboard..
What kind of condition is your top in? I'm going to disagree with the others on the window replacement as I've had it done a couple of times. When I bought my 92 Camaro, it was in perfect shape except for the yellowed window. Had it replaced for $250. Then a few years ago, I did this to my Vette's back window. Parked it in the garage with the top down on a November day when it was 75* out. Put the top up a few days later when it was 15* out. Bad decision. Anyways, the top was replaced by the previous owner and I didn't want to spend the $900 for a new top. Got it installed in the Vette for $300.
Now if the top does have any flaws in it at all, then I would say go with the new top, but if it's in good shape, then at least price the new window and go from there.....
Like others have said, you will get lots of help from us Vert owners here.

Thanks for the info. The top is in great shape except for the window. I will price it around. Someone suggested a boat dealer might do it as well. Thanks again for the advice
Re: New to Forum
Price around and price around dont force it, My rear window in my 88 was replaced for only $100 and it looks perfect, PS great find and glad your happy with the car

Re: New to Forum
Thank's for sharing your experience 91 Ragtop. It presents another side that can open the option of only replacing the window. Especially like you say, if the rest of the top is in mint condition.
The pic was painful to look at however!
Funny IrocZ85 that you mention that. When I saw the car for the first time back in the winter of '99, I had no idea what it was other than I'd never seen one before.
I was such a newbie!!!!
All I knew was that I fell in love with it and had to have it. It was being stored on a farm close to my brother's. I haggled with the owner all winter and in spring drove her home!!!

Re: New to Forum
Alright I have one more he doesn't run. It wants to but it wont. I have replaced the fuel injectors and fuel filter. Rebuilt the regulator (new diaphram kit). I still wont run. I can pull the fuel line and spray it like a garden house into the throttle body and it runs like a champ. I am finding air in the lines but no leaks on the floor. Keeping in mind he car sat for 13 years...I feel it its in the sending unit...I think there is a hole in the pick up line. What fuel pump do you guys recommend? I am hoping to find one that includes new hoses and gaskets. It was recommended to me to get performance fuel pump as well. Please help at a loss.

Re: New to Forum
Time to bring this thread back to life..LOL..
I just bought a 91 T/A Vert, and can't get the darn roof to drop. It worked at the dealership but I wasn't shown exactly what to do. I've tried pulling the latch forward and un-doing the sunvisor clips, I can't think of what else I'm doing wrong. I've even tried giving the center of the top at the trunk a few "love" taps to see if maybe it was just sticking.. I can't get it.
Any ideas?
