'90 IROC vert questions...
Looking at a '90 IROC vert with a friend. Red, black top, black/gray interior. 23K+ miles. Asking $12K, will take $10K. Near perfect shape, never wrecked, all original except tires & exhaust. The questions: "Marlboro Edition" - owner states a promotional deal at the local dealer. Has Marlboro stick on emblems on the3 front fenders above the front rocker emblems, pretty worn, but you can still tell the Marlboro emblem, although at least 50% gone. Also, the dash IROC emblem is yellow. Is that the correct color? My 88 is the red/orange one. Has the yellow graphics on the *****/switches, so thought maybe the yellow IROC was correct. I searched the Marlboro deal, saw 1 thread talking about Marlboro giving away some Camaros. This does have the original window price sticker, etc. I think $10K is a good price for a 90, considering the vert production numbers, way low miles, etc. Input? Thanks! John

Re: '90 IROC vert questions...
forgot...the top needs a new window vs just a new top. I think there were a couple small holes in it. Headliner good. New fog lamps - the metal trim rings rusted. I've not seen the rings for sale, just the whole lamp or the glass.

I have the marlboro edition 90 vert. Did you do a car fax? I just picked mine up an found some interesting things in the car fax and the owner stated otherwise.

Re: '90 IROC vert questions...
Here's a good post by 1982TA regarding the Marlboro Edition Camaro . . .
Originating topic . . . https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...-thirdgen.html
The above link doesn't work for me, however I do not think these are special cars at all. They gave away 50 of these cars, 5 per sales region with 10 regions. They were all IROC-Z convertibles estimated at $24,000 each. To win, you had to be a smoker and 21 years of age. Residents of Michigan were not allowed to enter the constest for whatever reason.
I found this info from the official entery form that was distributed at the time:
http://tobaccodocuments.org/pm/20486...pattern=camaro
Regardless if this was given away by Marlboro/Philip Morris it is still just an IROC-Z convertible. I don't know what options these cars had, and if they had Marlboro badges on them or not. Are they rare?? Only if you are saying they have Marlboro badges on them... so what. It shouldn't make the car more valuable because nothing was done to these cars to make them special in anyway other than giving them away and putting a brand name on them.

Thanks. My friend didn't buy the car, offered either $7K or $7.5. Said he'll take $10K. Still for sale, far as I know, original window sticker, believe it had all the options. Heck, still has the original air dam on it. Anyone interested, I can give a phone number.

Gosh, haven't been that way since we looked at it. I'll check. Don't know if I still have the sellers info...gotta root through the stuff on the kitchen counter - you know the drill.
