Decided to go with Hawks Light Bar

I have been going back and fourth and what roll bar I should get. I think a regular tubed roll bar would look shitty so I am going with the light bar. Yes it is expensive but all in all it is a must and it looks good.

Here are some pictures of a 3rd gen camaro with it. I think it looks pretty good.

Now I know it may not protect me in a roll over but my mom doesn't know that.... I can't and won't flip it anyway. I don't do that stupid of stuff in my car!!! Just burnouts!

Anyone that has installed it into their 3rd gen have any tips or pictures of installation points? I haven't been able to see the install points of this roll bar. I heard it bolts into some seat belt brackets or something?

Re: Decided to go with Hawks Light Bar

It's a nice-looking piece. It kind of gives these cars a modern "cabrio" look. But it's not a roll bar, so don't expect any structural support, nor any added safety. It's exactly what it's called: a light bar; and it's purely decorative. It does look nice, but if you're looking for something structural, this is not the piece for you.

Edit: Again, just to clarify(even though it's too late, and, apparently, no one cares, lol), it's not a roll bar, and it provides no protection in anyway. It contains a brake light, hence its name, "Light Bar." Its a Light bulb Bar, not a Light weight Bar.

Re: Decided to go with Hawks Light Bar

that would probably be a good place for mounting some sort of wind screen like the fourth gen cars have. Would keep some of that nasty wind from sneaking up from the rear?

Nasty wind?? That's why you buy a convertible! Wind screens are for women who don't want to mess their hair.

Dont say that !!! I took mine out the other day cause I had not used it in months ... I took it out on a straight away and stomped on her cause she was running rough and then I hit the brakes so I can slow down and my right brakes locked up and the car jerked to the right and I went on the shoulder of the grass where there was a steep ditch, I managed to control the car and put her back on the road but I was chittin bricks !!!! I drove home with my hands on the 2 and 10 o'clock position on the steering wheel. P.s. I had the top down and NO roll bar either.

becareful anything can happen

Robert.

Like my wife. Those wind screens work good. I bought a tankless water heater for a friend of mine, went to deliver it in the vert because it was a super day. I put it in the back seat with the seats folded down. Going 160kmh down the highway and there wasn't a stich of wind I could actually have a conversation with my wife while going that fast it was awsome. She wants me to fab something like that up so her hair doesn't flap around.

There is a link in the very 1st post It's the "Roll Bar"

http://www.northstarcamaroclub.com/M...2/Default.aspx

Also stated in the title, he decided on the Hawks light bar. Hawks is a sponsor to this sight, there are tons of links to Hawks. Anyways, I went to the Hawks websight and searched the Hawks websight for Light Bar. Here is the result http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/ca...elightbar.aspx. That took me all of 1 minute.
