Nice looking car. Its on e-bay right now. Is that the right striping for the tan interior?

Re: 1989 Iroc Convertible value

Looks to me like it is the right stripe. The door decal should be placed further to the back. What's your thought on the price??

Re: 1989 Iroc Convertible value

Looks like a nice car. I think he's in the ballpark with this '89 Iroc. The main thing is "Do you like it?" If you have her a few years the price is going to go up (hopefully). They are starting to go up in value. Hopefully after we get thru this recession things will take off. Good luck

Re: 1989 Iroc Convertible value

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking if I did find one "cheaper", had the car painted, new carpet, new ac etc, you are going to have that amount in the "cheaper car" real quick.

Also, can anyone please tell me what to look out for in these verts, as far as weaknesses etc when I go to inspect the car??

Re: 1989 Iroc Convertible value

Its a little pricey, but if your going to drop that kind of money its definitely a good choice. Verts are really awesome and i think they look the best on 3rd gens! They are going up in value,, bet on that. Just keep it original and take care of it. That lil chick will oneday look back and regret wanting a honda over a soon to be classic (if not already!!!)

Re: 1989 Iroc Convertible value

nice looking car, priced at hi end I think but worth it if you reallylike it

make sure you check the vert specific parts to make sure they are in good shape as many are not reproduced and if they are tend to be pricey - check all the top weatherstrip, full kit easily runs $500, check the rear spoiler and side trim to make sure they are good, seat belts in rear are convert specific, rear side upholstery panels convert specific, plastic windshield/top header bow trim covers almost impossible to get, make sure they are good. if the car has AC (or even if not) makes sure the vent direction controls actually work - if not usually a vac leak at back of control unit

Re: 1989 Iroc Convertible value

Nice looking ride. When the car was repainted, they screwed-up the striping and possibly the IROCZ door decal.
Striping . . . they used the striping style from the older IrocZ's ('85-'87). Those have the colour stripe over black stripe with no gap between the two. The '88-'90 (as that one should be) has the black stripe over the colour stripe with an ~1/2" gap in between.
Door decal . . . that one looks strangely to big. Kind'a like the aftermarket IROCZ decals they sometimes place on the top of the windshield. And possibly not quite placed in the right position, but close. It's a little hard to tell from the picture.

That one . . .

Factory . . .

Re: 1989 Iroc Convertible value

I think at this time you can find a better deal. The economy is down. Look how many verts are online now and not selling. It is a buyers market. I have been looking for a vert for the past year and a half. I passed a few bye I wanted to buy, but thought I could find a better deal. 3 weeks ago I found a 91 Z28 vert with 37,000 original miles for half of what the guy is asking for that IROC. My car is going to need new paint, but it has a great interior. All parts are there and functioning. I say keep looking around because you can find a better deal.

Re: 1989 Iroc Convertible value

For that kind of money the decals should be correct and trying to resell the car for that price with the decals screwed up like that would be tuff. You would have to fix them. I would keep looking there is a guy here in AZ on craigslists that was trying to get 8900 for a really nice 91 Z28 vert and it's been sitting for months. He's down to 7400 and it's still sitting.

Keep looking. Here is the link to the 91 for a comparison

Re: 1989 Iroc Convertible value

Just thought I would let you know I have just brought an 89 vert (Still in the US) only seen photo's online - needs new windscreen and hole in back plastic window, paint not the best but nothing a good polish won't fix - I paid $4000 US for her. It will owe me about $15000 NZ dollers when on the road over here. Will post more details when I actually get it and see her for the first time

I had the same thought about the decals looking too large...
