Rebuilding these rear panels and will be making a fiberglass back on these panels so the speakers dont get ruined. have another ring and will be pressing a grill on just like the dash ones. still gotta make to door panels

 

These are the speakers in mine had to add a ring behind them to bring them out so they wouldnt touch the metal behind them .
Previous owner tried to install the 6x9 speakers but left them out because they wouldnt fit properly ,same as the door ones.
My other vert is completely stock

 

they look good. sux their aint that much depth behing the rear speakers, im going to be using focal slim 4"comp

 

Looks good man! I'm working on a service that will recover existing panels to look new and match with the door panels and carpet. I'm working on my first set now in black, they are looking sweet! Pics to come soon.

I'm also working on new panels to address the depth issue, and I hope to have them set up to accept the choice of 6 1/2 components, 6x8,or 6x9's

Is that a new fiberglass panel you made? If so how much for a pair that will hold infinity 6.5 kappa speakers?

 

its the original panel just modified and an enclosure built behind it. their not much depth unless you cut out the brace in the back and i didnt want to do that. i wasent sure how it would effect the structure of frame

 

They look awesome. Do you think they would hold up as a stand alone panel?
Another idea, since you are good with fiberglass could you make a rear spoiler for our cars that has a better mounting system than those plastic pedastals that break like mine and many others?

iv used this set of components in a few vehicles these came out of my wifes truck. they sound awsome these are a little pricey but as you know their is not much depth behind these panels and i dont want to cut out that brace behind their, already enough strain on the frame as it is. thanks for the props

 

Do they offer any "decent bass?" I figure after I buy these suckas it will be awhile before I can afford a decent sub and some amps lmao

Where are your crossovers? Are they in the trunk? I've been wondering where the hell I'm gonna put them. I figured either under the front seats if I can fit them or in the trunk. If I go trunk, I could use the opportunity to prewire my system while I've got the carpet up.

 

ya they do offer decent bass its not gonna be a 6.5 but it is just a rear fill speaker. i have put some in a audi with enclosures in the doors and was very impressed. as far as crossover placment they are going in the rear panel in the trunk area i will be welding a crossover rack for all 4 crosovers so they will be flush with the panel

 

Very badass. The 4inch model should fit the dash 4x6 very nicely. Deff lookin forward to that.

That looks great and sparks some ideas for me to replace my old convertible panels. I as wondering how much leather and suede (yards) and did you have trouble color matching? I will be just cleaning up a stock speaker setup and trying to match med gray. Thanks for the photos and idea.

 

leather only comes in hides but if it was vinyl i would say about a half yard and half yard of suede. as far as color matching i have leftover kandy paint. and since all the interior is getting redone i started with all new colors so it should match up perfactly.

 

How did u get the fabric to lay so nicely around the curves and bumps of the panel without getting wrinkles?

 

heat gun and lots of practice
