convertible rattles

I have an 89' Camaro convertible - the top rattles a lot while driving, it's a real pain . I'll be replacing the top next spring as it is due. Any suggestions what I can do to reduce the frame from rattling.

Re: convertible rattles

Your first step is to determine exactly what part is rattling on your top before anyone here can tell you how to remedy the issue

Re: convertible rattles

I found that the best thing to stop conv. rattles is to replace the bottom seal that goes across the bottom.

Re: convertible rattles

I think the nature of having a rag-top is having parts and pieces that have minor flaps, rattles and shakes. There is less structural rigidity than a coupe, or even T-tops and those are prone to their share of rattles and squeaks.

There are definitely things that will always rattle and shake and squeak, and other things that should not, so figuring out what you can do and how you can improve the car.

Honestly my car has a little noises, On the hand if you ignore the obvious road noise from only having fabric between me and the elements, For rattles and squeaks its actually quieter than some of the other 3rd gens I have owned. Unless I roll down the windows, then I get this "Snap" sound coming from the RH rear of the car...

But its a 36K mile car, vs 100+K mile cars I have otherwise owned...

As a suggestion Have someone drive around while you sit in the back seat to search for where the noises are coming from...
