1987 Yellow IROC vert value

I have located a 1987 factory yellow IROC Convertable.Due to it being stolen shortly after it was new and the engine stolen out of it it has a prior salvage title. No other damage was done other than the engine stolen. It is in average condition today with around 90K on it. What do you guys think is a value on the car? I am thinking of purchasing it. Thanks

Normally i would'nt be interested either but i have always liked the yellow IROCS and have never seen a yellow convertable. From what i understand they are pretty darn rare. I hate the bad title part but it was only the engine stolen like in 1989. It take $3000 to buy it.

people get too up tight about salvage titles IMO. If you're not buying the car as an investment, I'd say go for it. If you like the car and you want it, then it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks about the title, its none of their business. My IROC is a salvage title because it was abandoned at the scene of a fender bender... Let the car's condition and price decide ownership, not other people's perception of a salvage title...

Re: 1987 Yellow IROC vert value

The salvage title thing probley could have been done different when it was started back in the day.Maybe a seriousness rating or something of a sort maybe 1-5. Unfortunately a stolen car with the motor missing is branded for the rest of it's life the same as a car broadsided by a train that took 2 other parts cars frames and innerstructures to bring it back to life. So i can understand peoples instinct is to run the other way just to be safe! Like i said if it was'nt a yellow convertable we would'nt be having this conversation.By the way i personally have nothing against salvage title vehicles,i own a bodyshop and have fixed, owned and driven many of them and if i didnt tell you ,you wouldnt have known !

I would say go for it, my car is a salvage title. I have a 90 iroc vert but i have cut out all the sections where it was hit and you can't even tell now that my car is salvage. i personally dont really care how much my car is worth, i just like it for what it is.

Re: 1987 Yellow IROC vert value

Update: Just got back from Florida and viewing the yellow IROC convertable. I was told on the phone before i got there the stolen engine story i mentioned on here earlier.Upon personal inspection i found a replaced radiator support and yellow paint peeling off the front fenders and hood, bumper showing red paint below.Rough interior and a driveway paint job at best on the rest of the car. Bad rust rot on the bottom of the doors and around the windshield frame and spare tire location. Im amazed at the lies people will tell you to get you there or the way peoples minds work that actually think there car is in good condition.

Well that sucks to here....

had I known you were coming all the way to FL to look at it, I would've had you stop and look at mine!

Its a 88 'vert with a rebuilt title..... from what I gather from carfax, it was in a front end collision back in 88, and I am the 3rd owner.

Re: 1987 Yellow IROC vert value

I have dealt with salvage titles for years, and it differs from state to state. In the long run the title will not hurt the value of the car that much as long as it's original. If it was a new car with a salvage it would drop the price greatly as a collector car you will be ok.
