Re: Convertible - 2 post lift?

All the 2 post lifts I've ever seen actually had 4 arms that swing under the car, so there are 4 points of contact anyway. Never seen a 2 post lift with just 2 arms, that would be scary in my book! Car would act like a teeter totter!

By "set up" do you mean installing suspension or SFC's? I always thought you wanted suspension loaded for SFC's and such?

Re: Convertible - 2 post lift?

I thoroughly understand your concern with the vert - given the unibody and the flex I feel in my T-top car and also felt in my hardtop car. For oil changes, etc. I wouldn't have concern, but for suspension setup, I'd want a ramp lift regardless of being a vert or not.

Re: Convertible - 2 post lift?

Shocks/struts/springs there's no room for error - they only go in one way, no need for any load or preload.

Same for ball joints, tie rod ends, centerlink, idler arm, A-arms - no need for any load or preload.

Sway bar end links should be installed under load I think, but doesn't matter on sway bar bushings. No need for load on panhard bar, or torque arm mounts either. LCA's I don't know about, but can't see how it would matter.

But SFC's definitely want to have the car straight when welded, whether that means loaded or not I'm unsure, I would assume loaded (on all 4 tires).
