Pics of factory speaker rear speaker grilles OE
My car had a "sweet" set of 6x9 hacked into the rear speaker panels, and I have no clue what they looked like. I can see that they were square, but might try and "match" the look with a square 6x9 speaker grill.
Any pic of Camaro factory speaker grills would be appreciated

So I think I'm gonna try and get these and find a mesh type fabric to cover the grills with some new aftermarket speakers behind them.

Re: Pics of factory speaker rear speaker grilles OE
Well I ordered those speaker grilles above and some fabric in attempt to replicate the factory look. I will post pics, and if it turns out good maybe other can use this as an option too.

Convertible cavaliers and sunbirds of the same years use the same speaker grills as the Fbody.

My concern with that is that they would not fit over a 6x9

mount the 6x9s on the back side of the trim panel so it doesn't look modded or rigged.. ;-)

Re: Pics of factory speaker rear speaker grilles OE
Got my grilles and fabric. I'm mounting the screws into the covers and epoxying them into the covers, so when covered with fabric it will still have that OE look... just a little bigger.

Re: Pics of factory speaker rear speaker grilles OE
I got one of the speaker covers finished and installed last night. Looks much better than an eye sore dirty 6x9 hanging out of the panel. This looks better, but def not an OE solution

I believe the originals were a 5x7 hybrid, used by GM. 6x9s will fit, you just have to move the speaker towards the rear a bit to miss the support strut in the verts.

Re: Pics of factory speaker rear speaker grilles OE
I know this thread is insanely old, but there aren't too many people doing this kind of thing... I have the same problem and I'm looking to do something similar myself. The question I have is, did the indentions from the speakers ever relax? If not, I'll be looking for a way to make that happen since I'm hoping to get a solution that looks as OE as possible.
Re: Pics of factory speaker rear speaker grilles OE
A cheap hot air gun from Harbor Freight and playing it over the vinyl on low heat should do the trick. Don't get too close and move it around over the indentation to avoid burning anything. These hot air guns come in handy for electrical work too (heat shrink tubing). I don't buy a lot of tools from Harbor Freight, but mine works great.

I initially tried several shallow 6x9 speakers but no luck. Quite a few recommended a 6.5" speaker with an 6x9 adaptor and those worked like a charm. No carriage conflicts at all. Good luck
