Re: Found my Z28
Congrats on one of 1254. I saw a white 92 Z03 vert years ago that had black stripes. It was awesome and I think they look better with black stripes rather than red especially with the black top. My black vert is going to get white stripes. How many miles and what options does yours have and where did you get it?

Why does it have white headlight buckets? Gm did some really strange things sometimes.

I think when re painted pearl white they did the buckets also? Unless someone knows that some 92's came from factory not painted? I know door sticker says built late 1991 so is one of the earlier models. Maybe those didn't have the buckets painted?

I don't like the RS headlamp pockets, you gotta paint them black to give it that Z28 menacing look, Nice Droptop

Beautiful car, very clean. I would lose the bra as I had one on my car awhile back and it ended up scuffing the paint where it would rub. And I agree get the buckets back to black and you are golden. Great buy!

Re: Found my Z28
The bra is there because the plastic bumper was not painted very well and is spider webing allready. And yes have been thinking of returning headlight buckets back to black. My question now is it doesn't have the rpo code for heritage package or zo3, but has z28? Is a factory vert.(asc) By vin number. It was built late1991 could it have been originally white buckets? Before dicision's made? Only heritage tag is dash 25th anniversary?? Any thoughts welcomed as it has been re-painted maybe not put back together right?

All 92's got the 25th anniversary badge on the dash. Yours in not a heritage. Still rare though

I think everything on the car looks correct except for the headlight buckets. If you get the bumper cover repainted just get the buckets black and it's perfect.
You can always get some satin black 3M vinyl (3m makes the best vinyls) and vinyl the headligth buckets. They sell small rolls of it fairly cheap on ebay. You can get enough to do the buckets for less than $50 and the high end, nice 3M stuff is fairly easy to work with. If you dont like it, you can peel it off. Although if the paint is a little rough on the bumper cover it might take the paint off with it. But if you get it repainted you can always just get it plain white and vinyl the buckets. Woudln't be super easy in the corners at the top but it wouldnt be that hard either.

Re: Found my Z28
I never heard of GM forgetting to paint some of the buckets but that sounds about right. Dave McClellan signed a few of the first ZR-1s (plenum) actually the top of the LT5 and a few were signed by other important people and the people who bought them didn't know who they were and removed them. Dave McClellan was the second head corvette engineer after Zora retired around 74. Dave served from 74-96 or so. One 92 ZR1 has a brass plate under the plenum and that car has still not been identified. Lots of crazy stuff with every car line.
