Convertible stock sub frame connector?
Any convertible owners on here with bone stock cars? Post up a pic of your pinch rail area please. My 1991 Firebird has a box riveted to the floor on each side over this area. Just wondering if its stock.

OK thank you. Then when I replace the floors they will get solid welded.

Re: Convertible stock sub frame connector?
I would add real sub frame connectors. They would do a much better job.

Yep thats stock. Personally if you are replacing your floors Id get rid of the stock angle they used riveted to the floor. Then do a set of perimeter SFCs and a set of inner like the alstons for verts.

Re: Convertible stock sub frame connector?
If you do use sub frame connectors on the perimeter of the floor, I would use the beefiest ones that I could find. I used Competition Engineering on my old 84 Camaro and they were great. But that was when they were much larger and stronger.

I believe the Spohn & BMR will work in conjunction with the factory riveted ones. I'm currently running stock and Chris Alston inners, planning to add outers in the springs.

OK thank you all. Last weekend I got a set of begs outer connectors for a hardtop for $100 so I will be modifying the stock ties to work with those.

Alston then, mine are from Jeg's. Look exactly the same as what you posted so guessing they're the same.

I bought a set from Lon years ago and found his product and service excellent.

Re: Convertible stock sub frame connector?
I have a set set that look similar, however they are to be welded for my convertible. For serious H.P., should I also consider the perimeter frame connectors also and once they are all welded in is there room for true dual exhaust? My Stefs oil pan goes to the frame leaving no room for cross over.

Re: Convertible stock sub frame connector?
I have to go back further because of the oil pan taking the space where the crossover goes. I have SLP stainless short headers. The exhaust will be worked out. The frame stiffness is my concern for now. Thanks
