Removing the stock sub frame connectors

Removing the stock sub frame connectors

Has anyone tried to remove the stock sub frame connectors on a vert and replace them with stronger ones. I know you can use two sets but,I all ready have a set for a hardtop.

They are more like pop tivetes sections of sheet metal, not a whole lot to thgem. Drill out all the rivets and they come right off

Why do you want to remove them? You can purchase the UMI outer subframe connectors and they will bolt right up without interference. You could also run the inner connectors in addition to or with the outers.

Tibo Are you sure the UMI connectors will mount up without removing the boxed in sections that is are already there? I dont see that there would be room for them.

I have a 1991 Z28 convertible with those riveted on outer-ish subframe connectors and the UMI connectors fit without any real issue. I am busy doing body work so I haven't welded them on yet but when putting them in place I saw no difficulties.

Pop rivets are loose. I have a set of ssm 2x3 box for a hard top I would like to use.
Allready have austons inners.
