Water pumps

Just wondering what kind of aftermarket water pumps you guys are running? I like the Edelbrocks (especially the polished one), but don't like the price. Are they worth it? I definitely want something with high flow.

Stewart Components Water Pumps are used by many Nascar teams.Reasonably priced too. I have them on all three of my GM cars.

I have yet to hear anybody have any problems with the Stewarts pumps. It seems to me that the only reason you would go with anything else is if you could get em for cheap, else, invest in a Stewarts and they'll take good care of you.

There is one in the Summit catalog with part number:BRA-1774,
Is that the one?

I checked Stewart's website and they show 4 different stages of pumps. I know a stage 3 or 4 would be overkill on my car. Stage 1 is similiar to stock. I always want better than stock so I'm thinkin maybe stage 2. What stage are you guys using, if yo are runnin Stewarts?

Hey rs,

I'm using a Stage 1 on my slightly modded 355. It is much better than stock! Made a big difference. Unless you have had a cooling problem or are planning some serious mods, I would think a Stage 1 would work for you as well. Can't beat it for the money!

I've had the same Flowkooler pump on my Z, 4 years now with no problems. I put one on my Blazer 2 years ago no problems. Just stay away from the bargain shop rebuilt pumps, in fact stay away from bargain shop rebuilt alternators too.

Flowkooler pumps are just stock pumps that have star impellers with the Flowkooler "disk" mounted to the impeller to stop caivitation and push more water. You can get about any pump and pull the back cover, see what diameter disk you need to make and mount it to the impeller. I make the disks for all my water pumps and they work great.
