I just had a water pump installed. I would have done it myself but a friend borrowed it..it overheated, then was towed to a shop and I fugures just let them do it. Well, They installed it and now I have coolant spraying from the pump or one of the hoses so much that it is in the inside of the hood. Everything is soaked. I am thinking they used a sh*t NAPA water pump and cut the hoses by overtightening them. Should i bring it over there and make them fix it, or just not bother and get a good aftermarket pump and install the bastard myself. New hoses wouldn't hurt.

This is an easy fix, I'd just do it myself and not hassle with the sh***y shop that F***ed it up to begin with. Although I would let them know about their sorry work. As I've said before and yes I'm flaming the hell out of any auto repair shop, "I wouldn't take a gocart to any of them PERIOD". They don't have a sense of ownership or pride in their work that is the problem. I will probably catch a real blast of sh** for this post but what the hell. i couldn't care less. I just hate to hear a fellow F-body brother getting screwed. Oh yeah that's why my Z isn't driven by even my wife. I just don't trust anyone else with it.

OUCH!
Not fair, not all mechanics are A**holes or dumb shiz.
The standard practice "at least mine is" replace the water pump and check all belts and hoses that are taken off durring the procedure and check everything in the general area then re-install. Then test drive or let sit for 15 minutes and check for normal temprature and leaks.
It sounds like they A. dident clean the block off correctly B. diddent check the hoses "that could have been the problem in the 1st place" or C. over tightned or did not properly re-install the hoses or clamps.
I would return the car to the shop and have them fix it unless its just a hose. As far as Nappa parts, Ive never had a problem with any of thier parts just thier so called "service techs"

Sorry SSC, I just never had good service from anyone I didn't watch like a hawk. I've got to repair an exhaust system welded up by some jackleg who thinks he's a welder. He added too much material to the cats thereby messing up the exhaust system geometry and it contacts everything under the car plus his welds look like sh**, I sure don't want this jerk to mess it up any more, I could get better work out of a monkey. The list could go on but I don't type fast enough and we'd be here all night.
PS I'm sure there are some good mechs out there, I just haven't personally met them.

I'd take the car back to the shop for a number of reasons....1.You paid them to perform a service, therefore it should be done correctly...so I'd make them do it correctly because that's what you paid them to do. 2....MOST IMPORTANTLY, If when coolant sprayed everywhere it caused some kind of external or internal engine damage...then it will be on record that it was their fault....if you go and replace the water pump yourself, then it turns out that something messed up, then they can simply say that it was something you did wrong.

too late
I just replaced the hoses and the leak stopped. i checked around the heads and there was no leak. Turns out that the pump was fine and it wasn't coolant that was spraying (though it was leaking into a puddle on the manifold which was fixed with new hoses). It was the power steering pressure line. It had a pinhole in it and it was spraying on the belts which was sending it all over the place (wasn't like that before!!!). But I got the part and all I need to do is get to the craft shop so I can put it on a lift (Crawling under there is tight).
Now, I know that power steering fluid is oil, and since it got on my belts I need to replace those since oil rots rubber. But what should I do with the other things soaked in power steering fluid? Should I just use degreaser?
And another thing, the hose that connects to the pump/manifold has a little pinch in it because I needed to bend it into pisition. I noticed it opens as pressure increases (throttle), but what are some good hoses that don't pinch when bent? And can I get them at the dealership? that is closer to me. I got Sh*tty Napa hoses on there. I have heard of the goodyear ones with stiffners in them...Do I just go to a goodyear store? or does the chevy dealership carry thoes.
Thanks!

Those kinda suck..
Listen, cut the metal line on both ends and put a good impact socket on the nut,and hit it with the gun.. You try anything else, and you'll round off the nut. Especialy in the box..
