installed 16" electric fan, can't keep up!
I just swapped my engine driven fan with a 16" electric.
took it for a nice easy drive and within 5minutes I was over heating.
If I stopped and let it idle it will cool slowly, but any amount of driving and the temp creeps up relentlessly
the fan kicks in at 190, but after a 10min drive it was over 230 already.
I figured a 16" would be plenty!
What can I do to help my fan out!?

Is the fan mounted directly to the back of the radiator and wired to Pull the air? Is the 16" fan rated to pull at least 1600 CFM of air? 1900 CFM or higher would be ideal. What is the coolant ratio, It should be 70% water 30% coolant or I use 100% water and two bottles of Redline Water Wetter in the summer. Also, replace the water pump and radiator cap and use a 180* thermostat. This is assuming that the radiator is in Excellent condition. You should also, back flush the system using the "Prestone radiator flush kit". After all this is done, you shouldn't have any overheating problems.

the fan is rated to pull 1530 cfms and 1200cfm through a rad.
I need 1600 cfm through the rad?
Comparing to my belt driven fan, it sucks, before the swap the temp would only get up to 185 on the cool day we had yesterday.
grr, all that work!

Make sure the blades are in properly to pull the air as someone mentioned earlier. When I received mine from Summit I had the same issues, I did the ole "feel the flow" test (putting my hand behind and in front of the fan) and there was more flow coming out from the front of the radiator than from behind the fan. Add to that actually driving around and I bet you have zero flow. Pull a c clip flip the blades around reinstall c clip and voila, much better.
