always overheating
always overheating
i have had my 92rs305TBI since 99 and has always overheated in the summer with the ac on....i had an easy solution "dont use the ac" But this summer its even worse....now its overheating with or without the ac on....when driving on the streat with stop lights traffic it overheats without the ac on in about 20 minutes of driving...with ac on it overheats in less than 10mins. I live in texas so at this time of year its pretty hot and its only gonna get hotter.
ive checked everything, ive had different mechanics look the car over....ive had everything that could cause the over heating fixed or changed.
do have u guys have any ideas or suggestions that might help cool my car down or maybe things i havent havent checked
ive changed my radiator, air dam is good, freeze plug been checked, electrical fan is always on when the keys in, ive got a 160 stat. water pump looks good but im thinking about putting a high performance pump on.

thanx

A friends RS did the same thing. After verifying that you gauge is actually reading correctly (they are notorious for being WAY off. Mine is 30* off), we added a dual fan setup and it cured the problem. You can also add an engine oil cooler.
Different areas of the country (TX, AZ) just need a little extra cooling help. That is why some f-bodies came from the factory with engine oil coolers.

Look at the problem the other way, instead of massive cooling, why is it generating so much heat?? I've driven my Formula for almost 8 years over 100,000 miles in Phoenix stop and go and have never had a cooling problem. Even run the car in super hot garage with AC on (since I live in Phoenix, my AC never is turned off) and car will stay under 220 for 10 minutes or so. Coat your headers and run synthetic oil. Make sure advance is not too high.
Make sure fans spin the right way, blows hot air on engine.
