cooling fans and toggle switch.

How would I rig up a toggle switch to turn on BOTH fans, and still be able to turn off the switch and have the ECM control the fans. I've grounded the fan switch wire, but it only controls the primary fan.

I found how to do it from another post. You just tap into the the green/wht. stripe wire going into the relays and ground it with the switch. I think I'll run one switch for each fan. Maybe even a light showing when the fan is already running. On my 88 dual fan setup the primary relay is mounted between the battery and radiator, the secondary relay is mounted on the inner fender on the other side of the battery.

That second relay with two wires is not for your fans. Both relays should be identical. The secondary fan relay should be next to that one.(Mine is) If not it could be on the firewal next to the power brake booster. Then I wouldn't be sure which one it is because there are multiple relays that look similar there. Check for the green/wht. stripe wire.

here's where I got the diagram:

The 3 relays by the booster on mine, are 2 fan relays and the fuel pump relay (91 Z).

On the 87 the relays would be: fan, fuel pump and MAF burnoff.(not in that specific order) I ran 16g wire. 14g would probably be better. just make sure that the wire you run isn't smaller than the wire you tap into.
