Wiring relays for both fans together...

I'm kind of stupid, so any pictures of this would help me out a lot...

Heres what i want to do...

I want to take the relays and make it so when the first fan kicks on from the ECM, i want the 2nd fan to get the same juice and turn on also...

Can anyone show me pictures of the wiring so i can get this done?

I know nothing of relays...

This might help you out some...

Instead of a toggle switch though as in the drawing, the ECM (as it would be OEM) is controlling the primary fan relay, if you tie the green/white wire of the primary to the 2ndary, they will both kick on as called for by the ECM or A/C. ECM or toggle, as long as the relay grounds are tied together, they will both kick on at the same time.

You can also join the + and - wires of both fans together and that will work as well. Mine have been like this for years with no problem at all. It only took about 10 minutes. And if you want to hook up a manual switch just find the wire of the temp sending unit and tap a wire into that has a togglw switch in the circut. Conect it to a ground and you have a fan switch. All the temp sending unit does is ground out the circut to turn on the fans onec it reaches the temp of your unit, now you can do that manualy with you switch.

Thanks Deadbird, I gutted my A/C so my secondary fan dident work. I followed your pic and now they both work!! But on my 92 the primary fan gound was green with a white trace and my secondary ground was gray with white trace. Not both Geen. Just a note.

Good to hear Randy.

I know the 2ndary fan isn't always green/white but, over the years it changes colors so I just kind of generalized the drawing (using the quick cut & paste method.. to lazy to actually draw new stuff ).

On my 87, the 2nd fan ground wire was black from the sensor/switch and then green/white after the harness plug. I've seen another all black & the 88 harness going into my buds truck is grey all the way to the relay as well. At least you were able to get your fans working though

John Millican actually posted over on the electronic forum, what I failed to find in an 91 service manual to copy for others, and excellent image of how the later years dual fan setup is wired as shown below..

You also really should add a time delay to the turning on of the secondary fan. I built this time delay circut and it works excellent. See this post for an explaination;
