Cooling down the car when its turned off...
Is there anyway to rig the fan so that it runs even when the car is turned off until the engine cools back down? Right now my fan will only turn on if I turn on the A/C or the Heater. It doesnt matter which one.

you need to install a thermostat to shut them off at a certain temp or a toggle switch

Yes there is, hook the tan/white wire to the orange on the relay (if you have a factory wired fan). Having the fan run after the car is off seems rather pointless but, that just my opinion which.. really doesn't matter.

I used to think that was a good idea, until I realized that it doesn't work all that well.
The fan running while the engine isn't only cools the coolant in the radiator. That doesn't cool off the engine at all until you start the car again. But then guess what happens.
HOT SPOTS!!!
The only real benefit you'll see that aids in cooling the motor is to have the fan running while the engine is running. And if you're real desperate (as well as not in the car
), crank the blower motor on "high" with the temp all the way to hot. Of course you can leave the windows down to prevent it from getting +200* in the car.

Really the only way to do it is to have an electric water pump, and an electric fan. Shut off the motor and run both. Works good at the track. I don't know how long most electric water pumps last, though...
Glue factory has the optimum solution, but as others have suggested, if I've run up to about 220 when I need to switch off, I'll generally leave the manual switch fan on for about a minute or so before switching off. No big deal, just my preference..

Thanx guys. I appreciate everyones input. I was just looking at my options since its a 100+ degrees outside and my underhood temp is really high. I guess a cowl induction hood wouldnt be a bad idea. Thanx again.
yea i was ahving the same problems I just hosed the radiator and motor down with water. Prob wasnt good for it but it cooled it down.
and that is, if there is such a thing as a fast stang.
