I was in autozone and saw a product that says it will cool your motor down anywhere rom 20-40*. It is $19.99. All you do is add it to you coolent. Has anybody tried this? Does it work?

It's probably something like "Water Wetter" made by NEO or Red Line, I forget which. It (Water Wetter) seems to really help heat transfer. I haven't heard anything bad about it.

BTW, it supposedly cools the engine 20° to 40°. It doesn't cool anything to "40* below".

I've tried that "40 Below" stuff and also "Redline Water Wetter" but, didn't notice any real improvements. They're supposed to also eliminate hot spots in the heads which they might do. From now on I've found that a 70-30 mix of coolant works well for my 305 tbi where I live.

I've tried Keep Cool from Redline and Water Wetter but didn't see any noticable improvement. I've seen them recommended on some forums though.

So I guess the stuff doesn't cool the motor, it just might reduce hot spots in the head. And I also take it that the 70-30 mix is coolant 70%. Just making sure. thanks for the help.

The 70/30 coolant mix is 70% water and 30% antifreeze. Water absorbs heat a lot better than the antifreeze The antifreeze just raises the boiling temp of the water and helps lubricate the cooling system.

Water Wetter is made by Redline Synthetics. I run it with straight water and my car never sees past 195*, even with no air damn on the freeway. I think it works really well.
