Car runs too hot (I know you hear this alot)
Hey guys,
My 92 RS' keeps running really hot. I keep looking to see where the problem in the system is, and this is what I have come up with. I assume the water pump is good and so is the thermostat because the car flows coolant very well. I drove it a mile today and the upper and lower radiator hose are very warm, and I guess that means the water pump and radiator are good. I just flushed and replaced the coolant, or so my mechanic says. My neighbor says there is a drain plug leaking on the back of my engine block, but it doesn't leak that much. Could I be losing pressure, the radiator even looks clean and flowing. It runs 220 at least after a five minute drive, and goes to the beginning of red at the stoplights. Air Dam is in place, so that is ruled out. I want to fix this so I can preserve the life of my engine. When I get out of the car the heat coming out from under it is OUTTA CONTROL!!!. Somebody give me an idea of what to check. THanks.

Fan runs just as it should and the thermostat is under control, I forgot to mention that.

Yea the radiator is workin good. The funny thing is today after picking a few of my friends up, the car ran into the red at a light, and that wasn't good, so i had to shut off the engine till the light turned green, then i put the heat on full blast, that dropped it to 190. That was good, but man were we hot. So my one friend says, okay enough, air conditioning time. I said okay, but when it gets hot, the windows go down and the heat goes on. So we did that and it stayed at 210 for the whole way home. I was like what the heck is goin on here, maybe the needle broke or something i thought. So then we got halfway home and realized that the fan is always running when the air is on. I popped the hood when we got to my friends house and it was running. So what is happening is, the air conditioning acutally helps cool the engine too. Pretty weird. I must have a leak somewhere, but not the radiator.
double check to make sure ur fan is on when it gets hot.. Cause for it to run THAT cool with the a\c on (and extra heat from the condensor) but to get hot when its not on, makes it seem like the fan is the problem.

Same Problem here.......
Park the car and let it run......open the hood and see if the fan comes on.....My guess is that it won't
That will help cool it down, The a/c turns on the fan, thus cooling it down...........no idea why you are overheating so quickly...
I replaced my radiator......wouldn't hurt too much.......$120 and 45 minutes of your time....
