normal is anywhre up to about 220.. and try to make a note of when ur fan is coming on.. you might need to flush ur cooling system.. or give us some more details.. when does it get to 240 (highway driving etc...) how long it stays and whatever else..

just curious, why do u think your hypertech chip is making ur temp higher? unless it was making u run extremly lean, or making ur fan turn on at a higher temp. but they usualy do the opposite...

alright it seems like when my car is running over 220 it doesnt perform as well as it performs when under 220. I can drive it and get on it alittle bit for like 2 minutes driving and its upto 220-240. Is it the thermostat? Also checking the radiator fluid it was boiling after i let the car sit for a minute when i checked the clear resevoir. What could it be? then if i take it easy after its up there and just have the car sitting the temperature doesnt really go down that much whats the problem?

well basically when idling and overheating the fan(s) might not be working properly.

and when moving around and overheating it might be your airdam.

any more info you can give us, like have you replaced anything lately, other than the chip?

i put a thermostat in it (195) and it seems to be running alot cooler and its performing like it use to before it was running to hot so maybe i solved the problem. when at a light it will get upto 240 but once i leave and get on it goes down to 220. It has been hot like today so i think thats why its running around 220.

This is burnouts forever over Harry's house. Well the thermostat did not fix anything but make driving around town alittle bit cooler. Is it my waterpump??? what else could it be thats causing my engine to get so hot, i dont wanna blow it up !!!

what type of fan do you have is it electrical or mechanical? if its electric see if its kicking on at all and make sure that your air dam is in place. my car acted the same way untill I decided to put a new one on since mine was broken, Damn curbs.

When your turn the heater on it will run cooler because the coolant goes to the heater core, and the heater core dissipates the heat.
