throttle body coool down
throttle body coool down
I' ve had this idea for a while, might be old but here goes. After hearing about re-routing the heater hose which runs through the throttle body, I thought why not send cool liquids through it. I've heard of people cooling their computers like this...
Use a small pond pump to move the water, a small transmission radiator mounted near the bottom of the car, and plug the lines into the throttle body. It would be possible to get a temperature gauge in, and mount an on and off switch inside the car. Rigging the pump to work off the auto battery would be the only real problem.
That's it, probably $60 in parts for a much cooler air charge.
What do you think??

It's a waste of time and energy. Unless you reduce the liquid temp sustancially the action of the air being drawn into the engine and the subsequent pressure change will probably affect the TB housing temp more than anything else. I strongly disagree with the TB bypass mod because even in hot weather the small idle passages could concieveably ice up and cause erratic operation. My sportbike had carb heat for both carbs and I experimented with it. On a 90 degree day at idle it would simply stop running with it bypassed. The greatest pressure diff occurs at idle hence the greatest temp difference. There is a lot of discussion about this, but it is there for more than cold weather.
