Oil Cooler 1993 Cop Car
Oil Cooler 1993 Cop Car
Way cool board you guys have here.
I have a 1993 Chevy caprice ex cop car named "Notacop"
It has the 350 TBI 700R4 trans.
My question is should I cover up the oil cooler for winter here in Idaho?
The car has an oil cooler, trans cooler, power steering cooler.
I think the tranny and small PS cooler would be fine but I am afraid the oil will never warm up? I am running a stock 195 thermostat and a stock chip.

Well to answer my own question.
Yes cover the oil cooler in winter. The city cops do. So I made a cover from tin and cable tied it around the whole thing using 3/8 fuel line as a vibration barrier. Like when mounting a transmission cooler to a radiator.
Results are:
1. Warms up faster
2. Stays at steady temperature while driving.
3. More heat all the time.
4. Runs more consistent.
Hope that helps!
